My great grandfather was married to Rebecca Cogburn, possibly the twin sister of Rooster Cogburn. Any relation? They lived in Arkansas.

Dave, After doing some more research I found that my family is from Montgomery County, Arkansas. A few towns I have come up with are Norman, Glenwood, and Fancy Hill. My great grandmother, Rebecca Cogburn had a brother, possibly twin, named Jerry Cogburn. Rebecca later married My great grandfather Noah Beasley. They were in Arkansas around the time you are looking. Thanks Rhonda

If you look back past 1880 you will find them listed as COCKBURN( the original spelling in Scotland) They were in Va in 1773 then GA around 1800 the TN/AR/TX.

My grandmother was Emily Cockburn GGranddaughter of George Cockburn b1746 in GB had Children John, James,Clark T, JerimiahE.M.(mine) and others. I have many files on Cockburn/Cogburn?CoGGburn(TN)/Cock/Coburn(the way they pronounce Cockburn in Scotland).I will be happy to share any info I have. I use Family tree Maker 6.0 and can send GEDCOM in almost any form you wish.

Dear Sir,
My name is Mark Cogburn. I was born in Hot Springs AR, 1966. And, lived in Norman AR, until 1977. Most of my dad's relatives are still there, my GGrandfathers name was Glen William Cogburn, and he was born in 1913. I am interested in finding out where our family came from, i.e. Europe, ? Do you have any information?

Mark,
Are you related to John H. and Ida Loudermilk Cogburn? If you are, we are related, my gtandmother, Mary Alice Cogburn Singleton was his sister. I was at Mt. Gilead Cemetery on Mother's Day and met a son of Glenn Cogburn, James Cogburn. Would be interesting in talking to you. email me at bureca@uswest.net

Joe,
We are related two ways; the Perrins and the Cogburns. Carol Randall told me you had identified the James and Dora Etta Perrin Cogburn gravestone. On the Perrin side, my gg grandfather Willis was your Archelaus' brother. And on the Cogburn side my gg grandfather, Patrick was Henry (Nathan's) brother. Ray Porter who answered your query was most helpful last year in helping me find my Cogburn ancestors. I would like to correspond with yu. I was just in the Montgomery Co. area a couple of weeks ago.My e-mail address is bureca@uswest.com
