Am trying to find any living relatives to Chief Comcomly... Chinook Indian helped Lewis and Clark.. was one eyed chief.. lost eye to Scarlet Fever or Smallpox.. died around 1860.. skull was stolen and taken to England for a while.. then returned to Smithsonian Institute.. finally sent back to Chinook tribe for secret burial. Other family names are Mary Rondeau, Agnes Ducheney, Grace Elliot Heiner, Carolyn Heiner Foster Lindstrom (my mother).. there is a Memorial Canoe at the foot of the Astor Column in Astoria, Or. for Chief Comcomly.

I am desendant of Comcomly and a distant cousin to you. Hi cousin. Actually the skull was first returned to Astoria and then loaned to the Smithsonian. I have actually started a MyFamily.com web site with information about Comcomly, Louis and Margaret Comcomly Chinook Rondeau, Rocque and Mary Rondeau Ducheney and Jonathan Green and Agnes Ducheney Elliott. I wonder if you'd be interested in the site?

Hello Cathie Thank You for your reply ..
Well, I have this :
Jean Baptiste Perrault married a Chinook woman , 1814 .
Then he had two daughters : Reinettee and Marie Anne.
Then in Jan. 21 1839 he married an Angele Tchailis ( Tchelis )

Reinette his daughter married John Larrison.
In the Vancouver Church records St. Paul they say that Reinette's mother was a daughter to Chief ComComly ?
Then Rienette and John had a Ellen Larrison .
Now as I know it Ellen was enrolled with the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Indians , So in order for her to have been enrolled they must of used her Chinook Indian for it ??

Anyway, the whole thing is , my family is tring to get enrolled with the Chinook Tribe Inc. In Washington .
I sent all Genie records to them , but they are saying that the church records are not proof enough .
They have told me to check these Roll's :
McChensey
Roeblin
Annutiy of 1914
1/4 degree Ubduab blood from the Clatsop Tribe of Chinooks , The Chinook Bands known as Cathlamet, Wahkiakum, Willapa , Lower Bank Of Chinooks ..
Cathie, would these be the records you have that you checked through ?
Also, I know Chief Comcomoly had many wives ect., and I also know that he the Chinook's of that tiem were/are not recognized .
So I do not know if you know this , but if none of them were recognized , then how are we supposed to find them on these Roll's ??
Thank You for your help
Sincerely ,
Diane
