Hi Debbie, I keep in touch with some very kind members of the Crowninshield family. I will forward your request to them. I encourage you to purchase the book "Cleopatra's Barge, The Crowninshield Story" by David L. Ferguson, 1976, ISBN 0-316-27895-5. The book documents the Crowninshield family history from 1644 to 1950. If you search for it through online used book stores I am certain you will find a copy at a reasonable price.

Thank You

Thank you for the information. I checked with a major book store but they didn't have it. I'll check on line. I received an e-mail from Diane Crowninshield of Ca. I am in Ca. also. I came from Mass.
Thanks again.

Crowninshield was my father's middle name. All I know is that someone in his family was an Admiral Crowninshield of the Royal Dutch Navy. My father's last name was Grove. I believe his parents came out to Douglas, Arizona from Michigan in the early 1900's. I'm sure I'm not much help at all. I'm floundering myself. Good luck, and let me know if we're related.

I do not know if he is one of yours but the name is rather unusual. There is a site http://carlisle-www.army.mil/cgi-bin/usamhi/PhotoDB/FindPhot... that I found by putting
the name Rice and Civil war in a search engine. It is a group picture that one may buy copy of. In it they list Col. Casper Crowninshield. 2nd Regt. Mass. Vol. Cav. I also ran across a piece of tribute by Oliver Wendell Holmes to the men in this picture. Quite a touching tribute. Thought much too nice to be wasted. Hope one of yours. Barbara

Glad to know there is another David Crowninshield - I hope he is a kind and loving as my husband. My husband was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on 10-6-64 to Edward Fisher Crowninshield and Carol Miller Crowninshield. He lived in Florida most of his life and then moved to New Jersey after college. He and I met in the United States Army Reserves several years ago. We are both looking forward to retirement from the Army soon. (He just returned from a deployment to the Middle East). We have a 2 year old daughter, Abby.

I have been trying to patch together his ancestry but can't seem to get anywhere. Any information that you know or any ideas where I can inquire
per page
