Hi Sue, imagine that, we're both named Sue.
My maiden name is Dagnan. Is Katherine your
relative? Is your maiden name Dagnan also?
The difference in the spelling is probably
due to the geographical area. My family
ancestor is Frank Dagnan, but the original
spelling is Duignan. He had a brother Michael
he stayed in the New York, Pa. area. Francis
went South and settled in Tennessee. He
raised his family there. If you need other
info I will try to locate it.

My great grandfather was Christopher Cloumbus Dagnan. He was married to Sarah E. Moreland. Her parents were James Anderson Moreland and Margaret Romack. She was born in 1844 in McMinn Co. TN. C.C.Dagnan's parents were Mary Jane Keef and Francis Dagnan.Mary Janes parents were John Keef and Elizabeth Winette (don't know her last name). Frankie's parents were dad unknown by me . Mother was Juda Donohue. That is as far baack as I have been able to take the Dagnan or Moreland family trees. If you have any further information, I would appreciate it. I have heard family talk that there were 12 Dagnan sons, seix of which fought for the Union army and 6 for the Confederacy. I don't know if there is any truth in this though.I am sorry that I took so long contacting you. I lost your e-mail to me and just found a letter to you in a surname search. Best of luck with your search. George David(Cabby) Dagnan.
