I also have Dardis in my family tree.
My gggrandfather was Tom , emmigrated from Ireland to Quebec 1842. He was a barrel maker. Moved to Chicago then to Farley, IA.
Are we on the same tree?

I am the great grand daughter of Felipe Dardis from Italy and would like to ask you if you know of any of your ancestors that might have migrated there. It is a surprise for me that the Dardis family has its origins in Ireland.
Thanks in advance

My grandmother, Mary Dardis (Longobucco), came to the US in 1899 from Italy. Was told the Dardis family came from Albania... although my grandmother spoke Italian. She had 3 brothers who all lived in NY -- 2 were policemen and one owned a bar 7 grill.

To day many people whose last name is Dardis live in San Marco Argentano (Cosenza) in south Italy. Some of them are
migrated to North Italy. May be the original name was D'Ardis whose origin somebody says is from Albany. In the 16th century many people migrated from that country in south Italy and in Cosenza's lands by turkey persecution. The people that I know are Marco, Giovanni, Vincenzo and many other ones. Marco Dardis told to me that an ancestor of his family was named Angelo, but I'm not sure about this new.

Ellen Dardis, who was originally from Co. Westmeath, is my great-great-great grandmother. I believe that her parents' names were Michael and Bridget Dardis who emigrated to the United States, likely to the Honesdale area of Pennsylvania after she was born. They both died in the U.S. in 1866 and 1850, respectively. Ellen also had a sister named Mary born 1835, and a brother named Andrew born 1829. She married a John Murtha (Murtagh) in 1847, after he had emigrated from Co. Westmeath in 1845. From the information I have, John Murtha was originally from the parish of Killucan. Ellen Dardis Murtha died in October 1899, and John Murtha died in November 1874, both buried in St. John's Cemetary in Honesdale, PA, USA.

Any other information about relatives would be greatly appreciated.
