Looking for the Davern Family in NY. My data on my line begins with James Davern (b.1822/23 in Ireland). His son William Davern (b. Sept. 1856 in Nanticoke, Broome County, NY - d. 1942) married Mary Ann Mahar (b. May 1857 in Newark Valley, Tioga County, NY - d. 1923) and had 7 children:
Leona Davern, Elizabeth Davern-Quinlivan (b. 1885), Mary Davern-Zimmer (b. 15 Oct 1887 in Newark Valley, Tioga County, NY - d. 28 Apr 1955), John J. Davern (b. 1889), Grace Davern-Hoover (b. 1892), James Davern and William Davern. Mary Davern-Zimmer was my great-grandmother. Any information on this family would be great.

I suspect we might be tracing the same family only different branches. My name is Susan Davern, wife of Lawrence Davern and we live in Pineville, NC. My husband is originally from Marathon NY. He is son of Andrew James Davern borm 1901, son of Edward Davern born,1897, son of Patrick Ann Davern who came to this country from Ireland.
Recently We visited NY and found a headstone for a James Davern in the Marathon Cemetary. My Husband's family back to Edward Davern are buried there. We do not know who James Davern is. There are also several headstones with the name of Davern in that cemetary that we do not know if they are related. In St. Patrick's cemetary in Whitney Point there are several Davern headstones. There is one for Rose/wife of William A, died Jan. 8, 1888. There is an Andrew Davern 1861-1939, a John S, 1918-1983, Mary, wife of Andrew, 1871-1918 and one for James J. Davern, died 1958. We thought possibly that William was brother to Patrick ( my husband's great-grandfather)as Patrick is also buried in St. Patrick's cemetary. Please feel free to contact us and if we obtain any further information, I will let you know

I am related to a Maryann Quinlivan Reardon who was married to my Great Grand father. My grandfather was Michael Reardon. They lived in Binghamton New York. I am interested in the Quinlivan line. I know very little about them. Could this be of the same line. I belive Patrick and Margaret were the names of my Grandmother.

Sincerly Pat Reardon

Tracy,

I believe James Davern is our Great great grandfather. His son Patrick and wife Ann were both born in Ireland and migrated to the US. Their son, Edward James is our Grandfather and is buried in Marathon, NY. I need the information you have on James, as our information only goes
back to Patrick and Ann. Please get in touch with me. My e-mail address is ldavern@carolina.rr.com.

My name is James Davern. I do not know if there is any relation, but I am very interested in learning the history of the name. I am currently a college student at St. John Fisher College, in Rochester, NY.
