Looking for info on my g-grandmother, Joanna Dawe m. Ananias Mercer in late 1800's. Her siblings were George, James, Isaac, William, Elizabeth, Sarah, Lavinia and Mary. Joanna's parents were Isaac Dawe and Mary Morgan according to info supplied by my grandmother many years ago. My grandmother came from the Shearstown, Bay Roberts area of Newfoundland. Please post message here or e-mail me at janetebrock@yahoo.com

My Uncle Wilf Dawe may know... he is 85 but has a good mind
He lives in St. John's Nfld.
If you wish his address email me.

i know my greatgrandfather peter dawe and his brother thomas came from that area about 1860-1870 as young adults. i cannot pin down an specific town. peter worked in the mines starting at 7 yrs. when his father was killed. the word bier-alston was mentioned, maybe a mine or town.

I am trying to find more info. on my ggrandmother, Elizabeth Dawe, b. 4 April, 1831, in Meavy Parish, Plymouth, Devon, England. She married George Charles and they immigrated to the U.S.A. several years before 1869, when their youngest, my grandfather was born. I have pictures of them, but not much info. re their pedigree or siblings, etc. If you have any info to share I would be interested in exchanging. Thanks! Joyce

Surnames: Dawe
My ancesters are from Callington Cornwall, England. They were miners and known to go "anywhere in the world to work." My ggrandfather came to the U.S. and eventually setted in Virginia. My gggrandfather was Edwin Dawe b. June 14, 1837. I have information right out of the family bible in Cornwall. Let me know if these are your Dawes.
