I am writing this in hopes that someone out there in our family will be able to help me in finding out about our family and it's history. I have been trying to find out as much as I can over the past few years. My faithers name was Bernard Joseph DeClue and my mothers name is Marie. His brothers names are Pat and Tony. His sisters name is Thelma. If anyone has any information that might help me please reply to this.

My mother's maiden name was DeClue. She was also born in Potosi, MO. She passed away in 1992, but I remember her mentioning an Uncle
Walter. Her father's name was Henry Francis DeClue. She told me the family name was originally pronounced "Du Claus". My Uncle George DeClue (recently deceased) did an extensive genealogy study on the family. I am trying to obtain a copy from my aunt (she is in poor health). If I am successful, I will e-mail you if anything pertains to your search.

I was glad to see your message, hope I can help.

Becky,

I also am related to a DeClue. Actually a mystery does exist about my grandmother's name. In any event her name was known to my family as Mary Magdalen DeClue. Recently a cousin reported Mary had 5 sisters (one of which was Mary Jane DeClue that may have married a second time to a Nicholson). My grandmother, Mary Magdalen DeClue (orginally spelled DeClous) was born 7/3/1889 and died 9/21/1978. She fisrt married Arthur Washburn (my grandfather) and had children: George Junius b. 1/13/1913, Paul Bernard b. 12/4/1916, Selma b. 5/31/1911, Alberta b. 3/23/1910, and Wanda b. 10/21/1918. This family lived in DeSoto, MO. Mary divorced Arthur and married "Skip" Parks sometime before 1929. She lived in Festus, MO until her death in 1978, where she was known as Maggie (or Marge) Parks. My cousin is sending me information and names of my grandmother's 5 sisters. If in the information you receive any of these names or dates agree I would be glad to share info. Good luck in your search, Susan Washburn-Lineaweaver.

My grandfather was Everett DeClue. He lived in Festus, Mo. Died about 8 yrs ago in Desoto, MO. His father was Flaveous Josepheous DeClue. But I don't know Flav's father or his father, etc.

These folks changed their name from DuClous or DuClos or something like that. So they're almost impossible to trace. In addition, they probably didn't participate in the census or have social's.

My grandfather was Everett DeClue, he lived in Festus, MO. died in Desota, MO. His father was Flaveous Josepheous Declue (went by Joe) and I think his father was Stephen of Steve DeClue/Du Claus/Duclos???

Steve was known as the Richwoods Giant. Richwoods is a few miles from Potosi, MO. I think Flaveous had several brothers, like a Samuel and Anthony. I believe legend has it tha Anthony practiced black magic and could cure animals and make things, objects move by some kind of mental powers.

That's all I know. If you have anything that you've stumbled upon, would you be so kind as to let me know???

Thanks,

Mike DeClue

My last name is DeClue, and I was surprised that when I typed it in. My family is from Potosi, Missouri. I don't know a whole lot, but my mom has done a lot of research and my parents have been there several times, so they would have alot of info. for you. Just let me know. They have even donated stuff to the museum there. Good luck.
