Delius -- Any descendents
I am searching for any descendents or relatives of the Delius family who lived in Pascagoula, Mississippi during the early to mid-1900's. My great grandmother's name was Agnes Octavia Delius. She married a John Herbert (?) Castona. They had 4 children -- Katherine, Edward, Herbert and a baby (don't know name) who died as an infant.
Delius is a variation of Dilius. Do you know anything of Agnes' family?
Re: Delius -- Any descendents
My maiden name is Delius. I was born in Pascagoula, MS, as was my father - George Delius. I know that my grandfather, also George Delius, was born in MS and my greatgrandfather was from Austria/Hungary. He was also George Delius. My father tells me that Agnes Octavia Delius' mother lived with his family when he was a baby.

Judy, Here is an excerpt that might help:
George Delius born 4/10/1838 died in 1914. He came from Austria at the age of 14. He came to America to learn from his uncle in Anahiem, CA, how to work the vineyards and to work in his uncle's winery.
While working there the Civil War broke out. He left to join the Union and fought down to Mobile Bay. He was severely wounded and presumed dead. After being placed in a room with others to be buried he came to, but couldn't speak or walk. He finally managed to crawl out to where the guards were. When they saw him it frightened them so they ran.
After the Civil War he worked and traveled. He came to Scranton (New Pascagoula) and met Isabelle Southern. Daughter of Charles and Lucinda Southern.
Lucinda was a widow and after the war she remarried William Henry Savage. She had six children by Southern and four by Savage.
Eldest daughter Isabelle, born 3/14/1848 married George Delius Jan 1, 1869. They had 10 children - 7 girls, 3 boys. children were: Agnes Castona, Bertha Nelson, Hattie Chastant, Katherine (Katie) Lindner, Lelia Olson, Pauline Olson, Edna Skousgard, Otto, George and Alfred Delius.
I hopes this helps a little there is more to this article and if you are interested I will send the rest.
Take care and God Bless, Anita Delius Mock
Re: info from History of Jackson County
Thank you for this posting. I am George Delius's great, great granddaughter. Edna Skousgard was my great grandmother.
My grandfather remembered little about his grandparents. He did have warm memories of spending time on his grandfather George's farm. He remembers George wearing high, black boots while he would go about his jobs/chores on the farm. My grandfather enjoyed following him around as a little kid, and that he was kind.
I've been told that George was always trying to make wine with mixed results, now I knw why. I had also been told that he and Goerge owned was some sort of decommissioning payment at the end of the civil war, but that doesn't sound right.
