Hi LInda,
Your e-mail is most welcome. My grandfather was Remi Denolf (my Dad was Archie) I have been working on my Belgian lines real hard for a couple of years now. Sure wish I could read dutch! How are you all related ? I am constantly amazed at how spread out all the Belgian relatives are! I have been working with a Hank Denolf in Detroit and a Dirk Denolf in Belgium - we keep picking away at it and trying to connect the various lines. Hope to hear from you and if I can help any, let me know. Ginny in Florida VBasford@aol.com

Hi! I have run into the DESIRE line a time or two and wondered how it connected back to Belgium. I have been in contact with a Hank Denolf in Michigan - have you talked to him? My Grandfather was Remi Denolf - his father, Conrard Denolf and his father, Ivo Denolf. I know nothing of Conrard's line or Ivo's - just their names. My grandfather came to Moline, Illinois about 1906. He went back in 1914 and married my grandmother, Emma DeBlaere, and they made it back just before the war started. All his brothers and sisters and his mother came over here. (they would save and bring them over - one or two at a time) He worked for John Deere. He and another brother, Medard, moved to Wisconsin, which is where I was born and grew up. I would love to have your e-mail address and when I get a chance, I will look thru my DENOLF files. I have a lot of contacts in there. Also would like to hear some about Desire and family. Conrard's wife was Julianna Van Echoutte and I have just had a contact on that line - hoping maybe it will help me go back. Anyway, hope to hear from you. Ginny down in Florida VBasford@aol.com

I searched the ellisislandrecords and found Remi on the ship Lapland out of Antwerp Belgium. He came over on Mar.28th. 1920 at 35 years old. There are a lot of DeNolfs that came over, maybe some of them are your relatives. I also have an E-mail address for Linda Golden who is also searching the DeNolf name. Her E-mail address is lindagolden1@home.com. Hope you can use this info.

There are quite a few Denolf lines - for sure! If that Remi is my grandpa, I did not know about that trip - I think it's probably a different one. Far as I know, he did not go back after the 1914 trip - marrying and bringing grandma back. He never wanted to go back to visit. Said he had not left anything there and he was an American now!!! He was a character, to say the least! It is amazing how everyone has moved all over the U.S.!!!!

Hello Virginia-

You mentioned a DeNolf and Moline, Illinois...

I have a Louise DeNolf who married a Ferdinand Mannens, both from Belgium. Their son, Valentine Mannens passed through the Ellis Island center a couple of times and on one ship manifest it lists that he was going to visit his father in Moline, Illinois. Valentine was born in Belgium in 1873. The two passes through Ellis were on the Kroonland in 1902 and the Aquitania in 1922.

I wonder if there is some connection with your DeNolf?

Hi Mark,
Do you have any idea who Louise Denolf's parents were?

Unfortunately, I don't...Their son married a Belgian with the surname Mostaert and it appears this family may have been from a town called Wyngene...

Kind of at a dead-end on my Belgian lines...
