HI!! I found this neat site and wanted to post a message on this board for anyone in the DeTurk family. My grandma is DeTurk and was raised in Rising City, Nebraska. How our family got its name is that in the 1500's our great ancester was from Turkey. He then migrated to Europe, where he was labeled "the
turk" by the natives. I hope to hear from many more DeTurks.

My DeTurck line, originally left France/Germany due to religious persecution. They were Huguenots who first settled New York in the early 1700's and then moved to the Oley Valley in Berks Co., PA. Looking for any information on this family.

I am trying to locate a color copy of the Deturk Family Coat of Arms.
I have a black and white copy whichich has been in our family since 1930.
There is also a copy in The DeTurk Family History published in 1934 by
The Reading Eagle Press. There is a copy of this book in the library of
congress which I got through my local library. Glad to share any information
I can. I Really would like to see aclor copy of family coat of arms. I also
pictures of the original DeTurk House in Oley, Pa.

I am Jeff Altenderfer, son of Howard DeTurk Altenderfer. Who is one of two children from my grandmother Olive Hannah Elizabeth DeTurk (Born April 6, 1898) who lived in Hamburg, Pa.
