William "Willie" Samuel Etheredge, b. 17 Mar
1879 acc. to Soc. Sec. Death Index ("Ten
Generations" book has 16 May 1879), d. Jul
1973 (SSDI) was b. in TX but his parents came
from GA. Of course they would have come
through LA also. Father was Oliver Rasmus
Etheredge,(1856-1945,)mother was Sarah
Lucinda Rogers (1849-1907). Your Etheredge
(Etheridge) line goes back to the immigrant
Thomas Etheridge who died in Norfolk Co VA in
1671. Your whole E. lineage can be found in
the book "Ten Generations of Etheredges..."
which is now in print again. Your direct line
back is Oliver Rasmus>Samuel Slade>Robert>
Robert>Caleb>Aaron>Thomas>Thomas. If there is
any question you would like to ask on
details, just e-mail me.

I'm a descendant of Samuel Etheredge who received a land grant in South Carolina in 1753. For more information about the Etheredge genealogy, see the book Southern Historical Families, Books 14 and 15. This book should be available in a genealogy library. Happy hunting!

San, I am also a descendant of Thomas Etheridge. My Etheridge ancestors are still living on the land they received in South Carolina from King George II in 1753. Please tell me the publisher and author of Ten Generations of Etheredges. Thanks, Martha

I'm sorry not to have replied sooner. I never saw this! The book "Ten Generations of Etheredges, Etheridges, Ethridges" can be ordered online:

http://www.dhc.net/~jw/

This is J W Enterprises, Shreveport, LA. The book costs something like a little over $30 but is well worth it.

Your grandfather Wilson Etheredge would appear to be the Wilson Lafayette Etheredge who was born 25 Dec 1878 in AL, son of John Franklin Etheredge and Nancy J. Tew. Let me know if I am wrong here (e-mail: Sanfordeth@aol.com). I have all these listed as Etheridge, but the spelling is immaterial. John Franklin's fathe was Edmund, and this whole line is traced back to the immigrant Thomas Etheridge, d. 1671 in Norfolk Co VA, and is documented in several books, notably "Ten Generations," which you can order online, and Holtzclaw's Etheridge Genealogy in vols. 14 and 15 of the series Historical Southern Families, ed. John Bennett Boddie. E-mail me if you need further info on these books.
