Surnames: Failla, Faillo
I am looking for any information concerning the surname of Failla later changed to Faillo. My great grandfather was Giuseppe Failla. He and 2 brothers, Francesco and unknown came to the states about late 1800's early 1900's. Giuseppe's parents were Giovanni Failla and Maruzza Giallombardo. Giuseppe was married to Crocifisa Taormina.

Thanks for your reply. My Failla's are from Palermo Sicily. Some could be from Vizzini. I don't know. I am looking for anyone related to Giuseppe or Giovanni Failla.

For Jaqueline Cooper. My great grandfather was a Giuseppe Failla from Palermo. He came to the US in 1898 or 99 with his son Sam/Salvatore but his wife's name was Catarina Inga. She came to the US several years later with 4-5 children. I don't know my great great grandfather's first name but his wife was Maria Pulizotto and she came to the US alone in 1910 - I assume her husband was deceased. These Faillas settled in Arkansas. Please send me an email if you get this.

Pat,
I don't think we quite have a match. Pulizotto sounds like a familiar name to me, but I believe it comes through marriage on my Grandmother's (maiden name Gillombardo) side. My Failla's settled in and near the Chicago area. I don't know of any in Arkansas. I'll keep trying to see if we connect somehow.

Hi, again. Don't know if I ever got back to you. My grandfather, Salvatore Failla, was from Lascari, Palermo. He and his Father, Giuseppe, entered the US in 1903 at Ellis Island and immediately went to Chicago. We think Giuseppe's brother, whose name was (I think) Pasquale Failla, was in Chicago then. He married a Concetta Gloriosi. They had 2 daughters: Maria (married John Pedi) and Rosa (married Joe Greco). He disappeared but his wife and children remained in Chicago. Their descendents are still in Chicago but I haven't contacted them yet. DOES ANY OF THIS FIT WITH YOUR FAILLOs? Thanks for your interest.

My Failla's were from Palermo Sicily - came to the USA when my father was 4. His name was Paul - do not know the maiden name of my Grandmother ?? My father died when I was 4 which would have been in 1935. There were Frank, Paul (my father), John and two daughters - Angelina and Nancy. They settled in Passaic, NJ. Do you think we are related ?? Joan
