I am interested in corresponding/talking with anyone that may be related to my father John Fandel. He was born in Austria/Slovakia in 1893 and immigrated to New York in the early 1900's. He married my mother Pauline Spal in New York in 1921 and they relocated to Detroit Michigan where he had a plumbing business on detroit's east side. He died suddenly in 1928. Please contact my son at the listed email address if you have any information on him that you might like to share.

I am a grandchild of george and florence
mason fandel. They lived on Lacon, Il. and
later moved to the Tiskilwa, IL area. He was
just getting a produce farm started when he
died a young man. They had 13 children. Don,
Mitt, Harold, Phyllis, Ray, Joe, Roger, Alan
Rachel, Herman, Emerson, David and Helen. I
do not know much about the Fandel side, But
would like to learn more. I know he used to
have huge watermelon festivals.

The Nicholas Fandel born in 1842 is my Great Grandfather. Why do you ask? Are we related to the same person? He also had a son Nicholas born 1887.

Hello Brenda, I just spoke to either your dad, or your uncle David yesterday. My maiden name is Grebner, and there are many links between them and the Fandels. I contacted him to see what the link was between the two of them. Unfortunatly we didn't figure it out. I am originally from Tiskilwa Il. and he lives in a neighboring town. He didn't know too much information, but if I find anything I will let you know. contact me if you want to jbdchall@yahoo.com

Hello-I completely forgot about this posting. i am responding on behalf of my mother Mary Ann Fandel Hocker. We don't know very much about the Fandel side either since John Fandel, my mother's dad, passed away when she was 3 or 4 yrs old. What i do know is that he was an immigrant from Slovakia or Austria and had one brother that remained in Europe. No other siblings were mentioned. Have checked the ellis island records and find no record of his voyage.
Maybe something here might click with you. Its curious that at least these 2 Fandel men died at a very young age.

As far as I know, he would not be related to my grandfather John Fandel in that john did not have any relatives here when he imigrated. the oddity is that my grandparents met at a wedding reception in Manhattan (don't know who's) and they were married several months later. My grandfather was living in Detroit and my grandmother lived on Manhattan.
