Feigley is possibly always an American spelling of the Swiss Voegeli, meaning "little bird."

Feig is probably German for "fig," from Latin ficus.

I'm striving to help my wife & her family. I have no idea of the meaning of this name. I had never heard it before I met her. Her grandmother married William Feigley of Wichita, Kansas. He died long before my wife & I met. Sorry! Terry

Well George, Thanks for the reply to my email from a few weeks back. A man by the name of William "Bill" Feigley from Wichita, Kansas married my wife's grandmother, Opal Woolman Ford. My wife was rasied by this man Bill & her grandmother, Opal since her parents were not interested in raising her. This was the 2nd marriage for Opal (divorced before my wife was born) so my wife saw this Bill as her "natural" grandfather. On her 7th birthday, Bill died leaving a void in her life. I was trying to piece together a part of his famil, no matter how small. I'm not even sure if I could offer any dates. I do know that Bill died in 1963 on Susan's 7th birthday. Opal Woolman (her grandmother) was from Maize, Kansas & married since the passing of Bill. She is still living in the Wichita area. Thanks for any help!

Well............I'm not sure! William Feigley (d. 1963-64) was the grandfather figure of my Wife Susan. Susan was rasied in Wichita by her grandmother Opal Woolman (still lives in an assisted apt. in Wichita) & William until his death when she was seven. Her grandmother did not re-marry until Susan left home. So, it was just them for a number of years. Susan told me just yesterday that she knew nothing about his family. William (Grandpa Bill) was the 2nd husband of her grandmother whom she married when my wife's mother was just 3 years old. So, he was a father figure to the entire family. I do not know his family background, only that he worked for the city of Wichita, KS. & that he is buried in Mazie. That's for your reply & for any help! Terry PS. Susan likes to tell about the friendship of "Grandpa Bill" & Emmett Kelly whom he seemed to know fairly well. Thanks!!!
