Hello,

I am looking for any information regarding any fesq. I figure it's such a rare name, we must all be related! My Fesq's begin with my grandmother, whose maiden name is Doris Fesq. Her parents were Franz (Frank) Fesq and Mary Anne McBride. Frank immigrated to New Jersey from the Brunswick area in Germany in the mid-to-late 1800's. His father was Jean Fesq, who apparently moved into Germany from France at the time of Napolean, and owned a successful umbrella factory. He was in a Catholic marriage that he could not get out of, and ended up having nine (!) illegitimate children, one of whom was Frank. Eventually the divorce was granted and the nine children were allowed to carry the name of Fesq. By the way, Frank Fesq was awarded a medal of honor in the Civil War for capturing the Confederate Flag at a battle in Petersburg, VA in on April 2, 1865. Well, that's my Fesq info!! Anyone else?

Nice to see a reply here! Let's see...my grandmother's maiden name is Doris Fesq, she is the daughter or John V. Fesq and Mary Anne McBride of Orange, NJ. John is the son of Frank Fesq, a Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient born in Brunswick, Germany and who served in the NY 60th NJ 40th Reg. in the Civil War. Any connections yet? I have some more info if you need it.

Hello Scott,

My branch of the family left Bordeaux around 1848 and set up business in the wine trade in Sydney, Australia. I am the fifth generation to own and run that business.

My late Dad met Howell Fesq in 1970 when he (Dad) was competing in The America's Cup in Rhode Island. His name was published in the NY Times, and some Fesqs came out of the wood work!

Dad never thought much would come of attempting to trace the German side of the family, but I wonder....

I am 56, with three children.

Best regards,
Mark Fesq
