I have several prayer cards that my grandmother, Ida Gianella Merlo saved of family and friends. Some have photos that I would be glad to scan and send. Here are the GARAVAGLIA folks:
*Pfc. John Garavaglia - Nato Il 7 Dicembre 1920 - Ucciso in Guerra - Il 14 Ottobre, 1944
*Frank GARAVAGLIA (b. 10-21-1894 d. 4-14-1944)

My great grandparents were Cesar Gualdoni (son of Domingo Gualdoni and Catalina Carnaghi) and Regina Garavaglia (daugther of Luigi Garavaglia and Francesca Taloni). He was born in Cuggiono, Italy in 1864 and died in Argentina in 1930. I am looking for any Gualdoni or Garavaglia family history.

Dear Annabella:

My name is Bob Carnaghi. I am originally from a
small town in Southern Illinois that was settled
by Italian Immigrants who all came from
Cuggiono, Italy during the early part of
the 1900's. There were several Gualdoni and Garavalia
families there, and still are. I still have my mother
and some family there, although I now live in Texas.
I have a small amount of information re: the
Carnaghi Family. You can write to me @ my E-mail
address, above. Good luck with your search.

I have been unable to reply to Bob Carnaghi but would like to hear from him. My great great grandfather was married to a Catalina Carnaghi following the death of his first wife, so I would be interested in any family history you might have.

Family History

My father Gary Garavaglia is from Detroit, MI, but has lived in West Virginia for the past 20 plus years. His father, Lawrence sp.?(Larry) Garavaglia had a dairy business in Detroit for a while. His mother, Cathrine, was a Baptist despite the fact his father was Catholic. I also have an Aunt and Uncle that changed the spelling of their last name because of their accounting business and the confusion that the Garavaglia name caused in their accounting business. Their names are Paul and Helen Garvey. Together they had 12 children, and one of them, Paul Garvey Jr. runs the family business today. I am going to ask my father more about his parents and names of his grandparents and so on. I know that there are many Garavaglia's in the St. Louis and Detroit areas. Happy searching.

Catalina Carnaghi was my great great grandmother. Unfortunately, I know nothing about her, not even if she was originally from Cuggiono (near Milan) like all the Gualdoni's and Garavaglia's, or if she came from other town.
