I have been redrawing in CAD the Garcelon Family Cemetery in Lewiston, Maine. Let me know if anyone is related to this family. There is only one Garcelon listed in the phone book in Lewiston, Maine. The ancestor of all Garcelon descendants in America, James Garcelon, is buried in this cemetery. His wife's name is Deliverance. I have found out that James Garcelon's father was Pierre Garcelon and he was born in France, and lived on the isle of Gurnsey. Let me know if anyone has any information on the Garcelon family

I am a descendant of the these Garcelons through the above captioned, my great-great grandmother (1834 - 1927). My aunt who died two years ago knew her as a child. I am fascinated by this family. Very prominent. One was a governor of Maine. A bunch of them went to Southern CA and did quite well out there. Medical doctors. I have a letter written to my grandmother in Maine from one of Nana's sisters. Longevity in the family - at least the women - is record breaking. I have two of Nana's photo albums and several other very interesting photos. Would be more than glad to make a road trip to Lewiston and meet with folks and share what I have, and most importantly learn more about this family. I have a family photograph from about 1895. I live on the NH Seacoast and wouldn't mind some travel to meet at a public library or someone's home or whatever. E-mail is Pettingillp@yahoo.com.

My grandfather's name is Charles F. Garcelon and had lived in Maine for many years, it is either his father or grandfather who was the governor of Maine. I am interested in finding out any information on this family for my own knowledge. Thank you.

Alonzo Garcelon had a son Charles Augustus, b. 14 NOV 1842 (I got this off a web site and can't document it otherwise), so perhaps your father is the governor's grandson. This is not my direct line, but I have some information and a few ideas about searching. You can e-mail me at jgeyer@mail.colgate.edu
I'd be happy to share what I have. Joanne

My husband, through his mother's side, is a direct descendent of the Garcelon line through Lucy Garcelon (daughter of James Garcelon, Jr). She married a Jeremiah Dingley, another long time Main family. Their daughter Nancy married a Brewster and that line comes down to my husband. Among the things in my mother in law's "papers" is an obituary notice for one of the Garcelon family. Will dig it out for anyone interested.
