Looking for any information on the family history of my grandfather who was Samuel Joseph Gatley born in Manchester in the late 1800's. I know that he had a brother named Joshua and the they worked for a cricket club there. Samuel married Sarah Ellen Keegan and came to the United States..If any one has information on this man I would deeply appreciate hearing from you.

Nancy....
I stumbled on to your search notes, and although I have no information on what you are looking for, I was delighted to see another Gatley. We are few in number around the world, and I am just getting involved in doing my geneology. I must admit, my cousin David Gatley, Poway, CA, has done a lot of research on GATLEY, and might like to exchange information with you, he is at dgatleyathome.com. In any case, I stumbled on to your notes, looking for start. My father, born 1899 in Kensignton, Maryland, to Albert S. Gatley. In any case, its nice to see another Gatley. I am a member of the LDS Church, Yuma, AZ. I am a High Priest, and currently the Ward Missionary Leader.

Hello Nancy,
You seem to have a lot of information about the Gatleys,My gggrandfather was John Gatley Bowen, his parents were William Bowen and Anna Gatley (sometimes spelled Gately),they were married in bond Co.Il in 1830,any chance you know of any Gatleys in this area at that time, they were from S.Carolina before that.
Greatful for any information

Check out Caldwell CO., KY for Jemima Gately, widow of John Gately (via Henry Co., TN, Caswell Co, NC) John was apparently the son of William Gateley of Caswell Co, NC (will probabed there). Jemima and John had children that crossed over into IL, other names were Heneritta Gateley that married a Kesner, Susanna Gateley, brother John Gateley, etc. According to another researcher there is a document in a history book in Green Co, MO that lists the children of John and Jemima..... I have no proof myself, but if you are interested I can put you in touch with the other researcher.

Hi Nancy,
I just got back from Salt Lake. I found some more on the gatley's and the women they married.
I also found out when John Gresko and "Annie" as he called his wife, immigrated. Was unable to find the ships they came over on, so I was unable to find their birthplace. I also found when John was naturalized.

George Grant Gatley:
George Grant Gatley was the name of my great
grandfather. His parents, Richard Kent
Gatley and Sarah Markham arrived in America
from Wales in 1840. George was four years
old, and lived in Portland Maine until he
entered West Point in 1886.

I would be interested in exchanging
information.
