My mother, born in 1902, daughter of William Gehris and Kathrine Hill Gehris, and born in Mohnton, PA, was the granddaughter of Lafayette Gehris and Catherine Mullen Gehris. Lafayette and his wife Catherine Mullen Gehris were located in Pottsville, Pa at the time the Mollie Maguires were active in the 1870s in the anthracite coal mines. The Mullen family were immigrants from Ireland in the middle 1800s and my great grandmother, Cathrine, was first generation in this country.
Will welcome contact with anyone who has any connection with this family. My e-mail address is rawillis@netnitco.com.

Hello Russell,
I have corresponded with your cousin George Gehris about the family here in PA. I have done research on the GERES/GEHRES/GEHRIS families here in PA and back into the Palatinate area of Europe, what is now the Rheinland-Pfalz area of Germany. My genealogy homepage is located at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/7117/genealogy.html

Susanna Davis Garess Woodward

I am seeking information about Susanna Garess, born in February, 1836. Susanna
married Sonneton Brinton Woodward on February 9, 1854 and the newspaper stated that both
parties lived in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania at the time of the marriage. Sonneton had been
living in Upper Merion, Montgomery County and there were Garess living there, but so far no
connection. In the newspaper, her name was stated as Gaines, but in her obituary it was stated as Garess. I
believe the latter to be true because research has uncovered a Sonneton Woodward Garess and
a Sonneton Willard Garess who would have probably been named after Susanna's husband. Susanna
and Sonneton (known as either S.B. or Brinton) lived in Conshohocken where he first worked in the
rolling mill and then retired and became the Health Officer and Tax Collector of Conshohocken. They
had seven - possibly eight- children. Susanna died on April 25, 1920 in Montgomery Hospital, Norristown,
Pennsylvania. She was my great-great grandmother. If you have any information about her, I would be most
appreciative.

Thank you,
Donna
