Frank Griffy had one brother Ivan, and two sisters that I know of and their names were Pearl and Mamie. They were the children of William Silas Griffy and Lucinda or Louticia Wages. William was born in Wolf co. Ky. 6-18-1858. Died 7-19-46 of Myocarditis. His father was John Griffy, mother was Mary Frisby or Grigsby. Hope this helps.

I was born in 1972, to the late William Ronzel Griffy nicknamed Rudy that was a brother to Delano, Dallas, Harold and Delna all of which were children of Ivan Griffy of Sylvester, Whitesville in Boone WV, I have been searching for any info requarding the Griffy's for sometime. I can remember very little of Aunt Mamie but a lot about my aunt and uncles that were my dad's siblings, I would love to know more! I only know of my immediate family, no history or past!

Hello and thank you for your response. My husband, Allen Wayne Griffy, is Frank's son. Frank was Ivans brother. I got to meet Aunt Mamie and Aunt Pearl. I did find where I believe that the name Griffy appeared. When Gordon Griffin left Virginia around 1800 and settled in Kentucky he or someone changed the last name to Griffy for some reason. Info is very hard to find on the net. Guess no one is tracing this family but us. Randell is my husbands half brother. I finally got to meet him this month for the first time. Would like to stay in touch with you. Maybe we can work together.

I was born in Anderson, IN. My Michael Griffy m Hannah Chesterton in Shen. Co., VA in 1789. I have found Griffys in Co. Clare, Ireland, where, I am told, Griffy & Griffin are the same name. I have also found a Nathaniel Griffy, the son o Michael & Hannah in Devonshire County, England. Hope this may help you with the Griffy line. If you connect to any of these Griffys, let me know. WHG

Thank you so much for your reply. I think I have a connection to a Gordon Griffin who moved from Virginia to Kentucky around 1800. I really appreciate the info you shared. I haven't documented anything but I am 99% certain about Gordon. Again, thank you.

I have been trying to research Wilson Griffy, who was born in Kentucky to Wilson Griffy. His parents were not married, but at the age of 18-21 he went to Kentucky and found his father. I wonder if they were up to no good or maybe I just do not have the right connection because going back on the internet from his father has found me hardly anything. My Grandfather, Wilson lived in Montgomery County, Tennesse.(Clarksville) Many people living there did originate in Virginia.
