I am looking for my Great Grandfather Robert GUNSON born 1813 in Nenagh, Tipperary, Ireland. Married 1838 to Susan Powell in Dioc of Killaohe, Ireland. I would like to find the name of his parents and family.

I am looking for details of my great-grandmother Elizabeth,
who married ? Mills in the mid-1880s. She was from (we think) Ulster
though this is not confirmed - it could have been Eire. They had 5 sons
and two daughters: May, Louisa, Albert, Percy,
Harry, Stanley, Robert. Most of the children were born in England, in the
Lewisham area of London.
Thanks

Hi Jenn

Although I have very comprehensive records of the Cumbrian Gunsons your Jane has so far eluded me. Admittedly my records of the Gunsons of Dean only begin in the 1870s. Jane may well have been one of the numerous Bolton Gunsons but I cannot spot her. She may also have been a widow. A Jane Graham married Richard Gunson of Greenfoot at Bolton on 20 December 1818 and seven children were born between 1819 and May 1832. If Richard Gunson died around 1832 his widow would be a likely candidate for your Jane, but this is just a possibility.

Will let you know if I find anything.

Regards, Niel

Niel,
Interesting information, thank you. I know John HELLON, Jane's husband was born in Dean in 1811, and that they had two children Jane in 1836, and John in 1837, both born in Dean. I thank you for your offer to send me any further info. you discover. Keep in touch.
Regards,
Jenn

Did this gentleman end up on the ship landing in New York?, Aprox 1838? Had a brother John Gunson? If so I have info on his brother John, or rather my mother does.

Hello,

I just came across a message you posted two years ago about Robert Gunson and Susan Powell. These two are my great great grandparents, and I have a picture that may be of Susan Powell. I am descended from their daughter, Rachel Gunson.

Have you learned anything about them since you posted the message? I have just begun researching the Gunsons and have found a little bit of information but would like to know more.

I do know that they were miners in Nenagh and migrated to Colorado during the silver rush around 1870, although I don't think they all came over at once.

I have identified eight children of Robert and Susan, but I suspect there are more.

Any help you can provide would be much appreciated! You can email me directly at kdrum@home.com.

Hi
Just came across your comment on the board that you had info about Cumberland Gunsons. Mine are Richard (24) and Hannah
(22) Gunson who had 2 daughters Mary (3) and Sarah aged 3 in the 1881 census
for Cockermouth. I'm trying to find out about them because there is a link
with my GGM who was a Holmes and the two daughters variously called
themselves Holmes or Gunson - Holmes.

A long shot I know, but any ideas?
