Searching family of William Woodruff Hanslip who immigrated to America in 1880's Have a lot of info to share and would like to fill in family lines too.
He was married to Margaret Jane Gibson they had 11 children. Any help filling in the gaps would be appreciated. William Woodruff had several siblings immigrate to the area too. Several however stayed in England. They were the children of Browster John Hanslip and Sarah Sharman of Eriswell, Suffolk, England.

My name is Mike Hanslip. I am 54 and live in Glendale (Phoenix ) AZ. Most of my kinfolk are in Sioux City, IA. My mother and dad, still living, Harold and Lavern and grandpa Fred who died in 1987. Norman Hanslip in Perth, Australia is a wealth of info on family tree. His web site : The Hanslope Descent. Hanslip's used to be Hanslopes and originated in Buckinghamshire,UK. Search another web site using Hanslope. Anyway, a number of years ago, before he died, a Reginald Hanslip contacted me. He lived in Suffolk Country just outside London and was the caretaker of local Church of England and was married to Mary. He said that he was nephew of my great great grandfather. His story went that a Hanslip in the UK had 15 children and 12 immigrated to the US. As you know, all Hanslip's in US are related somehow. I too am trying to trace my roots, but just starting out. Norman, in Australia is about 78 and somewhat of an expert on the family tree. Would enjoy hearing from you and sharing research, Mike and Tamara Hanslip phone 623-322-2165

Read your messate board concerning William Hanslip. I am looking for a William Hanslip born about 1803 in Suffolk County, England but was married to Amelia Kilman. They married 4 Mar 1824 in Mildenhall, Suffolk, England. Would my William Hanslip be a son or brother of your William? I am unaware of my GG grandfather William Hanslip ever coming to America.

Although my name is spelt with a "D", we are the same basic root family. Originally from Hanslope in Bucks, England, they have since spread to a few other counties.

My father was Rodney William Handslip, my Grandad was William Taylor Handslip. He was in the Navy during WW1. And spent a lot of time in the East Indies.

I understand from some books I have used, that a Wineramus De Hanslepe came over from Normandy with William the Conqueror in 1066, as one of his 50 companions or Knights.

Later William gave the ham(Village) of Hanslope to Wineramus and that is supposed to be the start of the line. However since the Normans were of Viking origin, there could still be a lot of digging to do!

It would be interesting to see how closely we might be related, since some Handslips did emigrate to the US in the 1800's.
