I have been researching my husband's line too. On some microfiche I found the widow of a James Havis. His widow had petitioned for money from the 8th congress. It was dated Dec 28, 1804. Her husband had fought in the french and indian war under Colonel Bouquet in 1760-1761 and had apparently been killed. The title of the Microfiche was ---
Digested Summary and Alphabetical List of Private Claims. Vol II H-O. #6040997-10
I don't know if this will be of any help. I am sure our names are connected in some way. My Havice's are from western PA and WV. If you think you'd like to know more about us just let me know.

Hi. I was born in Desha county in Arkansas. My father was Ferd and my brother's name was John Marcus Havis. The Ferd Havis that was born November1846 was my grandfather, I beleive. He married Emma Ruth Holmes and they had 3 sons;Joe, who moved to california, my dad, and Robert. Robert had sons that moved to Chicago. One of the sons was named Joe. There was also a Sam Havis, but I don't know wherehe fit into the family.
My father, Ferd had a son mamed West whodied before I was born and West had a daughter.I dont remember her name. There was also a Havis (Robert's son who lived on the west coast. He contacted me in Alaska a few years ago.) I moved to Africa and when I returned he had changed tel. #. I am anxious to hear what you have to share. There're a bunch of us.
