I am attempting to verify my great-great grandfather's family ties. My G-G Grandfather was Olof Jonasson (Johnson), changed to Hedren upon arrival in Minnesota. His father was Jonas Olsson. Family legend says that Olof Johnson took his mother's family name (Hedren), which was legally established in Nicollet County, Minnesota. The only name I have for his mother is Annika Larsdotter from Vermland, Sweden. He was one of five children. He immigrated to the U.S.A. in 1865.

Mathias Olofsson Hedren arrived in Bernadotte, MN about 1865. Is he a part of your family?
Mathias must have been a neighbor of my husband's great grandfather in Bernadotte, MN.
Have you received any information about Olof Jonasson Hedren from Mellerude, Sweden?

Thanks for the reply on Mathias Hedren. Mathias was my great-grandfather. Who was your great-grandfather that lived in Bernadotte around 1865? I have several great-grandparents from that area? No I have not received any information from Mellerude, Sweden - what would I find out from there? I'm interested in anything that my add to my research on the Hedren's.

Olof Jonasson was born in 1825 in O:stra Hinstakan, Bralanda, Sweden. My husband's great grandfather was Jonas Jansson (changed to Johnson) born in 1820 in Bralanda, Sweden.
