My grandfather was Oscar Kilgren from Sweden. He married Helmi Jarvinen, one of twelve children, sister of Ellen Jarvinen from Finland. My mother is Shirley Kilgren. Do you have any link to my family?

My mother was born 19.09.1909 in Jämsä, near Jyväskylä, Elli Elisabet Järvinen. Daughter of Viktor/Vihtori Konstantin Järvinen,b. 18.05.1884 Korpilahti. He was the son of Joonas Samulinpoika (1847-1909) and Mathilda Erkintytär (1846-1916).
Järvinen is a very common name, but my mother told she had sometimes had a friend (?) who went to USA.
Any connection in our families ??
Love Eeva

My grandparents immigrated from Finland to Massachusetts in early 1900's. Matti Oscar Jarvinen and wife Hilma Narvi Leivo. They had five children, only two survived childhood: Toiva and Onni. Is there any connection to your family?

I believe my great grandmother Anna Wilhemina Jarvinen born 1876 in Finland was a sister to your grandfather Oscar. Oscar and Anna had at least 2 other siblings, Otto and Kalle (Charles). Anna came to Canada but had relatives in the states. The names of Oscar's children that we were aware of were Sylvie, Lyna and Toivo. Is there a connection here? Any info would be very welcome.

I was interested in your posting. I have been looking for my mother's birth father, Henry Jarvinen(Jarvi). His father was Charles Jarvinen(Jarvi). Henry married my grandmother Hilda Matalainen in the Copper Country of Michigan. Any info you would have on Charles would be appreciated.

I don't have any information on your family but I will keep you in mind should those names pop up. We are probably related somehow. There is a great site you can go to to research your Finnish heritage. It is the genealogical society of Finland. Parts of down right now, but in a few months they will be back up and running.
