I am looking for anyone with any information on the Jebbett family. They came over from England in the early 1900's, from Huncote I believe. My grandmother was a Jebbett before her mariage. Any info would be great. Thanks.

As you can see my surname is Jebbett also. I am not sure whether we would be related, my grandmother and grandfather both lived in England, my fathers mother did not talk much about family history to him, so unfortunatlely I am unable to trace my origns. I live in Australia, and have noticed that my family are the only Jebbetts in Australia, it seems as though when the name moved they all went to the USA. I was shocked to find so many residing in America. My grandmothers name was Lily Jebbett and Grandfathers name is Henry. Henry had one brother (I have no name). I was under the impression our name came from French orign before settling in England. I would like to hear from you to see whether you may be able to assist with some information.

Sincerely,

Bianca Jebbett

Hi bianca,
My research points to it being
a name of norman-french origin
probably meaning 'Son of Geoffrey'
my surname is a slight variant,
most likely caused by a mispelling!
my email address is
stuartjebbitt@music.com
If you want me to email you my research
files (microsoft excel)
I can do that, which will lists most
jebbett/jebbitt births in the uk
during the 19th century
just send me your email address and I
will send it as an attachment
per page
