Sorry, Sue: Should have read your earlier message before opening my mouth. Guess there is no connection, St Louis and southern Mississippi are a long ways apart. There is a remote possibility but not very much. aafarrington@juno.com

i believe my great grandmother was oma jencks. her sister was named zizka (ziska) and her mother was named isabella. isabella was irish and indian. i think my great grandmother and her sister both changed their names. my great grandmother became "corean" (my mother was named after her) and her sister became "martha". my great grandmother married a "will stanley" from north carolina (a black man) and her sister married "arthur farrington" (a white man) and that is why i am trying to get in touch with you. isabella lived with a german peddler who had the last name jencks. the peddler was about 40-45 years old, and isabella was about 15-20 years old. isabella was the daughter of "peter dorherty "(an irish farmer is southern mississippi) and cora (an indian slave???) peter was married to "sarah bingham cobb", but you know the stories behind slaves and their masters! anyways, isabella had two daughters by "jencks", and then he fell ill (supposedly), and his family from up north came and took him away, and isabella was left with oma and ziska. i noticed that a lady e-mailed you about a jencks in st. louis. if his family from up north came and took him away, it is very possible you are related to eva jencks, and so am i. it is said that she also went by the name haynes, and has a few children with that last name. my grandfather referred to her as "isabella rogers" and he referred to his mother oma, as "corean" he said that her maiden last name was "bloom". i have no idea why these people kept changing their names, but maybe we can discuss that later. but after it was all said and done, my great grandmother "oma jencks" changed her name to "corean bloom" then married "will stanley" and then they changed their last name to "thomas" and it was then changed to "thompson" which is my mother's maiden name. all of these changes were found in census' by my aunt eloise thompson (my mother's oldest sister.) i am very interested in my family history, so please4 get back to me as soon as you can! by the way, will and corean thompson had about 4 daughters and 2 sons, i am the granddaughter of their youngest son, "willie thompson."

Mia: You have the marriages incorrect. Ziska Jencks first married my grandfather, Thomas George Farrington and after he died in about 1902, she married Weldon Lee Rucker. There were no children from the second marriage. Mr. Rucker raised my father, Alvin Arthur and his brother, Other Wesley as his own children.
