My G-G-grandmother, Mary Kahoun, married George Leonard Berg September 26, 1871 in St. Louis, MO. Mary Kahoun emigrated from Prague, Bohemia in 1872. Her two brothers were Frank and John. I would like more information and contact with any family from the brothers. Thanks! Liz

Hi Julie!
I do not know a lot about the Frank Kahoun in my family tree. What I do know is in 1874 he is in the City Directory here in St. Louis, MO. In 1883 he is listed again, along with a son named Frank, Jr. In the family (Ruemker) plot, Bergs, Kahouns and Ruemkers are buried. Frank Kahoun died 6/20/1914 (I do not know where). This death date was in my deceased father's notes. Frank was reinturned in St. Louis 10/25/1917. The cemetery won't help me find out where his remains were originally. Possibly Ohio?! Please write me at I hope that there is a connection! Liz Walsh

Hi Julie,
I forgot to mention that there are two spellings of Kahoun in my records. My G-Grandmother is Mary Kahoun. Her brothers spellings are John and Frank Kahaun. Liz Walsh

My grandparents, Jacob and Jenny Kahoun came to America from Prague sometime in the late 1800's. They settled in Chicago and there are or have been several Kahouns living there. My mother Margaret was born in 1911.

My paternal grandmothers name is Mary Christine(Christina?)Kalhoun, she married Charles Otto Slaby sometime in the early 1900's in Chicago, Illinois. I am not that familiar with her side of the family as she never spoke of them. Recently talking with my father he mentioned several first cousins, this was the first I had heard of Mary having siblings. The first cousins name were Ira, Tommy and possibly Johnny.
My father has located Ira Kahoun living in Elgin, Illinois. Is anyone familiar with a Mary Kalhoun?

Hi Bob, While searching for info on Jacob & Jenny Kahoun I found your name. I'm Mary Lou...Granddaughter of your mother's sister Helen, daughter of Dorothy Mahoney (Pahr). It's been a very long time. Just wanted to take this opportunity to say hello. Your mom and dad were two of my very favorite people in the world growing up. Hope you are well!
