Could you tell us where these people lived, and do you have any dates (even approximate ones)? That would help.

Sorry, I don't have much of anything. I know that Edith was married prior to her marriage to George. She was married to a "Frost". Has a couple of sons, John E. and Frances, both were in the Navy, both still living. John was born about 1936 in Oregon, so I was told. Edith had lived in the Florence, Oregon area. At the time of her death, she was living in the Vancouver, Washington area. I am doing this for my niece, for she is John's daughter and I am helping her to locate some of her cousins and family she never knew.

Thank you
Judy

That information could contain some clues. Were John and Frances her sons by George Karstetter or by Mr. Frost? Do you know if she had other children? Sorry to ask so many questions, but last night I searched some censuses and couldn't find anyone named either Edith Frost or a listing for Edith and George Karstetter in Oregon or Washington. Perhaps Edith used a middle name or nickname. Could they have been living in a state other than Oregon or Washington?

HI again,
I am not sure, my sister in law thought that they were from Oregon, the boys were Frost. She thinks there is one more son, but not sure. When she last heard anything about Edith, she was living in the Vancouver, WA. area. She told me she wasn't sure if she was buried there or in Florence OR. I am so sorry that I don't have much more to go by. I will see what I can find out if any more from her. I know that John was born around "37" for he was in the navy with my brother-in-law. Again thank you for your time and effort. Judy

Judy,

Found both! I checked Lane Co., OR and Clark Co., WA GenWeb sites and each had a search engine for cemetery burials. Clark Co. turned out to be the one. They're buried in Park Hill Cemetery in Vancouver.

This is from http://www.rootsweb.com/~waclacem/ParkHill/ph_k.pdf
P 90-4A KARSTETTER Edith M. Karstetter, 1906 - 1967 (s/s George W. Karstetter, b: KY, d: 28 Apr 1967
age 60 yrs 10 mos of heart, int: 2 May 1967, lot owner: self, fd: VFC)

P KARSTETTER George W. Karstetter, 1893 - 19-__ (s/s Edith M.)

You can replicate the search by going to http://www.rootsweb.com/~waclacem/. Scroll down the page to the search area and put Karstetter there. That will turn up both of them.

Good luck with your search!
Beth

This is a real coincidence. A message just came in on a genealogy mailing list to which I subscribe and says the Washington State Library will do obituary lookups. You can request an obituary by email(askalibrarian@secstate.wa.gov), or by email form, chat, telephone, or by mail. All the contact information is at http://www.secstate.wa.gov/library/ask.aspx.

Beth,
Thank you thank you a million times, this is a start for my niece. We both really appreciate your help in more ways then you know. I will get an email off to the library right away. I really do thank you. If there is anything I can do in return for you, just ask.

Thanks again
Judy

Judy,

It was my pleasure to pay back for help I've received along the way. I'd love to know how things work out for you and your niece in your search, and I'd especially like to know if you find any connection to the Karstetter family that lived in Hood River, OR. My email address is bpjohnston@charter.net.

BTW, the state of Washington has been putting a lot of records online at http://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/default.aspx, so that might be another place to search.

Just happened to be nosing around and found your messages. I know that George Karstetter is buried in the family plot in Greenburr Pennsylvania. He died while he was there looking up other Karstetters with Don and Anita Karstetter. He was my Great Uncle. I do not remember ever meeting Edith. Hope this is helpful.
