I stumbled across your posting and wanted to reply.
My father's name was Robert Louis Krenning. He was born May 21 and died December 19, 1995.
Is he the Robert Krenning listed here?

Unfortunately, no. The Robert Krenning listed died in the late 1960's. The Krennings listed are from the St. Louis MO area.

Respectfully.

Jerry,

My daughter stumbled across this in a fun internet search of our surname.

The Krenning's in question are from the St. Louis, MO area. I remember my father saying that his dad changed the spelling of their last name from a more traditional German spelling to the more US (current) friendly spelling to avoid WWII related German difficulties.

If I remember correctly, my dad said that the original name was spelled KRANUG or similar.

I know that Frederick Krenning was a double deck bus driver in St. Louis in the mid 1940's and his wife Mabel was a hospital orderly.

If you are still out there, a reply would be interesting.

The 1850 US Census shows Catherine Krenning, age 28 Francis Krenning, age 28, and Henry Krenning, age 2, living in
St Louis, MO.
I am interested in Henry Franklin Krenning, DOB 3 Mar 1848, born in MO, who married Lucy Ellen Gordon on 25 Jan 1871.

Would like to exchange info with anyone researching The Krennings. Henry and Lucy are my Great Grandparents.

Hello, I am the youngest daughter of James P. Krenning, who is the son of Fred and Mabel Krenning. My sister in law is doing research now of our family. And as you mentioned its hard to search since everyone was split up. From what she has gathered our grandfather Fred Krenning born in 1896 changed his last name to Krenning when he was 21 or 23 he also came from a large family. I can give you her contact info if you want more. Or you can write me back. I dont know much of the Krenning history since my father passed when I was only four. I know that these blogs are old ... but I wanted to say hi anyway.
