I am searching for information about Winter George Le Feuvre, born circa 1860/70 in Jersey. He was married to Clara Jane Daubert. He had two sons, Clfford and Stanley James who were also born in Jersey. The family relocated to Guernsey late 1890's early 1900's and died there.

I have been trying to locate dates of birth etc and info about my grandfather, William Le-Feuvre who was born in Jersey in the early part of the 19th century. My father was born in Vancouver, Canada and relocated to England when he was 7. His mother was Irish. I never met my grandfather who died at 42. I don't know anything else about the name Le-Feuvre other than it comes from the Channel Islands. ]]

I hope you have some luck with your search.

All Le Feuvres are descended from Channel islanders as it is a unique spelling to the islands rather than French. To back this up there are Le Febvres and Le Fevres in profusion in France but only one Le Feuvre in the Paris phone book last time I looked. Although the name effectively means Smith, a rather more glamorous possibility is that early Le Feuvres were blacksmiths who made armour. William the conqueror gave rewards to channel islanders for their service, and my branch of the family bears titles from that time.

There are Guernsey Le Feuvres ( I am from Jersey) and a notable one founded a chocolate factory in Toronto - still running today.

Thanks - Gerard
