Much of my family tree information comes from "Corbin Homesteaders - The Leachmans of this Lost Community in Cass Co., Georgia" by Melissa Leachman Taylor. I would be happy to have some additional facts to clarify some possible descrepancies.
It lists John T Lord as the husband to Ann Leachman, b. about 1740, daughter of Thomas Leachman, b. abt 1711 in Northumberland Co, VA, d. 1752. Another daughter, Margaret Leachman, is shown to have married John Lord, in Prince Wm. Co. VA.
Sincerely,
David Leachman

This is for David Leachman who questions the marriages he found in book published by Melissa Leachman Taylor as of last year.
I published a book in 1987 on Leachman family. In Melissa's book, David, I cannot find the pages on which you found the marriages of Ann Margaret to a John Lord due to lack of page no's in index.
In my own book I have Margaret Leachman m. to John Lord in Prince Wm. County, VA and moving to Abbeville District, SC. This family lived in SC in 1786 where they were members of Turkey Creek Baptist Church. Some of their descendants were found in Jackson County, GA after 1800. Peggy is an alternate name for given name of Margaret. Therefore, Peggy and Margaret are same individual. Margaret above was believed to be dau. of Thomas Leachman who was b. between 1700 and 1709. Many Leachmans believe wife of this Thos. Leachman was named Elizabeth, not proven. However, birth records are not available for Thos. Leachman. Based on fact that he was in V irginia at right time and place as were descendants I have listed in my book make it correct and agreeable with other knowledgeable researchers. There are court records to substantiate.
court records to substantiate. My book is out of print. Melissa used some pages from my book that were from my own ancestor(Tho. Leachman V).

Doris, my reference to Melissa Taylor's book follows.
In Corbin Homesteaders, on page 1 of the Leachman Lineage,
under Generation 3, the children of Thomas Leachman and Elizabeth include:
iii. Ann Leachman, b. Abt. 1740,; m. John T. Lord, and
v. Margaret Leachman, m. John Lord, Prince Wm. Co., VA.

PS. I volunteered to help Melissa index her book and have done the first 5 pages.

David:

Melissa does have errors on the above.
Margaret (Peggy) Leachman m. to John Lord is correct. As for Ann who was sister of Margaret, I do not have a marriage for her, only info. on her was that she went to court to establish a guardian, 1754. I don't think I have your mailing address but will list the Thomas Leachmans I have in my book. I think Melissa has mixed them a little. Great of you to index her book.

Thomas Leachman I (emigrant to Virginia)
No birthdate, VA court records 20 May 1656 state Thomas Leechman, age 40 years or thereabout, testified in court. Other records show this man m. a Mrs. Dellabow, relict of Abraham Dellabow. I only find evidence of 1 child to this Thos. Leachman.
Thomas Leachman 2 (also found in VA Northumberland Co. records); m. Elizabeth Gralesse and was executor of her father's estate; their children: Thomas b. betw. 1700 and 1709 and John b. 1708/1709 (b.d.'s sketchy on these}.
Thomas Leachman 3, b. betw. 1708/1709; d. before 22 June 1752; we think wife's name was Elizabeth (no surname for her) nothing confirmed. Children: (1) Leonard Sr. m.
Sarah Foster;(2) Ann (nothing known except as above) (3) Thomas(4) d. betw. Feb. Aug. 1799 (my dir. ancestor); (4) Sampson (settled later in KY); (5)
Margaret who m. John Lord, went to Abbeville, SC.

I think you wrote to me once, David, but I don't have the letter now so don't have a
mailing address. Would like to send you some photocopies of first part of my book on the above lineage. There is not room here to put forth all explanations, etc. Tell me where you fit into the Leachman lineage.
