CHARLIE, NONE OF YOUR NAMES SOUND FAMILIAR. BUT HERE'S WHAT I HAVE. MYGREAT GRANDFATHER WAS HAROLD LOTZ, HIS BROS. WERE CHARLIE MONROE LOTZ, FLOYD LOTZ, WARREN LOTZ, OTTO LOTZ, AND EDWARD LOTZ.

THERE FATHER WAS THEODORE LOTZ. HIS BROS SISTERS WERE ADOLPH, JOHN, ANNIE, HERMAN, MARGARET, OTO, EVA LOREAN, GUSTAVE, LENA, AND EMMA.

AND THERE FATHER WAS JACOB LOTZ. JACOB WAS IN OHIO IN 1840/50 AND THEN WENT TO IRON COUNTY/ST FRANCIOS COUNTY, MISSOURI WHERE THEY STAYED. IT APPEARS JACOB HAD FARM LAND.

THE CHARLIE MONROE LOTZ I HAVE MARRIED A BESSIE DAVIS AND RAISED MY GRANDMOTHER - ETHA IRENE LOTZ SINCE HER MOTHER DIED YOUNG. PLEASE E-MAIL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY ? OR CONNECTIONS.

The Jacob Lotz of Iron County, Missouri in the 1870 census purchased land in Reynolds County, Missouri in 1873. There were several land transactions involving his sons in that county.

I copied several items from the index of the deed book. Jacob Lotz sold a lot of land before died. But I have not yet checked out those names to see if some of them were sons-in-law or not. But his cemetery abstract shows he died on July 4th, 1881, which I thought was interesting. I want to see the actual tombstone though. It show he was burried at Fisher (Cove) cemetery. Do you know what his two wives names are, and their maiden names?
Again, let me know if you are interested in sharing information. Email me at kmvisme@aol.com. Thanks, Kris Valle

Kris,

In the 1850 census, Jacob's wife's name was Elizabeth. The names of their children were Elizabeth, Henry, August, Adolph. In the 1870 census, Jacob's wife's name was Annie Marie. Adolph is in the household, as well as several other children.

There are some land transactions in Reynolds county between Jacob and August(ine) and John.

In the grantor/grantee index there are three transactions that need to be examined.

1. Lotz Herman et al to Anna M. Lotz
2. Lotz Gustave et al to Anna M. Lotz
3. Lotz Anna Maria to Jas T. Dobbins

All of these transactions were recorded on the same day.

The "et al" probably includes siblings which inherited property together. I wonder if the two groups would delineate the children from each wife. The transactions were recorded June 25, 1891.

I do not know the maiden names of the wives.

I found Jacob Lotz in Reynolds Co, Missouri by accident when looking for records of the man who married an Elizabeth Lotz in Cleveland OH in 1844. I found an entry where Jacob Lotz was the adjacent name in the index. Since he had been a candidate for Elizabeth's brother, I took notes.

Hello Kris. I hope this email address is still good. My name is Glen Williams and I am just starting on my step mother's ancestry. I've tried to do this in the past but could never get enough information from her to get results. Her name is Carolyn Lotz, her father is James Burrell Lotz and from what I have found using the census', she appears to be a direct descendant of Jacob Lotz, born about 1788 in Bayern. I know that I am missing one or two wives and so I have some children attached to the wrong mothers, but I need a little help.

Hello

Do you know where in Bayern? My Lotz family came from that area Kaiserslautern. My direct line Georg Nikolaus Lotz was born 1758 in Bensheim, Phaltz, Bayern and immigrated to the Batschka region in Austria Hungary in 1785. His father was Johannes Christian Lotz born 1723 in Kaiserslautern.

It may be possible that your Jakob Lotz's father may have been a brother to Georg Nikolaus Lotz. Georg had an older brother Johann Ulrich Lotz born 1751 in Kaiserslautern but I don't know anything further about him.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Laurie Lotz

Hello Laurie, sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I've been studying for a test for work. If you will contact me at my email address I'll send you what I have. Lotz is my stepmother's family and they were from a town just west of Kaiserslautern by just a few miles so there could be a connection. After immigrating to America they settled near St. Louis and a little farther south, Warren County I think without looking at my notes. My email is gwill65074@aol.com

I have an obituary for Harold (Harry) Lotz. It says he was buried in the K of P Cemetery in Farmington. When I was there, I couldn't find him nor a few other of the Lotz clan. There were quite a few anonymous grave markers around this cemetery. Otto and wife Flora have a nice stone there.

I have other Lotz grave pictures from iron County cemeteries that I took in 2008.
