I am 31 now and my maiden name was malone, but I just found out by my father ( Robert Lee Malone ) and his mother ( Hazel Malone ) that our name used to be pronounced maglione, ( may-lee-own ). My father, Robert Malone's dad was very Italian and spoke broken english. He and Hazel lived in Tacoma WA and had 5 children, two died in a house fire when they were babies. the other children were Patricia,Linda, and Robert (skip) Malone. He died of a heart attack long before I was born and since then no one has talked about him. Would you happen to know him. Dont have a name for grandfather but will get it if your interested. I had also heard that when grandfather came over from Italy, that the states changed his name to Malone because Maglione was hard to spell and pronounce. Is this true?

I'm not looking for an ancestor, just a Mike Maglione. He has 2 brothers and a sister, I think. He lived in Mansfield, Ohio. He is probably about 52 now. He went to St. Peter's highschool there. If any information, please reply.

My wife is a Maglione. Her dad, deceased in Dec.99 was Anthony. Born in the Bronx to Dominico Maglione and Rosina Sorbera (Silvera) of Sicily. Rose and Dominico split up when Anthony was in early teens. Dominico we believe was from the Naples area of Italy. That's all dad knew of him as he said his dad "deserted" the family. Anthony was the only child of Dominico and Rose. Feel that Dominico remarried and lived in the Newark, NJ area and had other kids. Dominico's mother was Clemadina Dardano, his father Antonio Maglione. Would like to know where in Italy Dominico came from. Feel a village in the Naples vacinity. Rose was from the Messina Sicily area. As far as my father-in-law was concerned Dominico disappeared off the face of the earth. Dominico was much older than Rose maybe 10-15 years or so. Rose remarried a Joseph Bonfiglio and had 2 more sons. She died in 1996 at age of 92. Any info helpful. Located also in NJ. Thanks Much, Greg Burns. gburns@rcc.com
