Hello all you fellow McGroarty's (MacGroarty's). My name is Siobhan and I live in Queensland, Australia. Over the past number of years I have been trying to create a family tree. I am keen to 'chat' with anyone who can give me more information.

To date I have established that my Great Grand father was a DanielMcGroarty from Inver in Co. Donegal. He was born in 1838. Daniel married an Anna Maria Kearney from King's County (Offaly) on the 13th January 1865. I have traced my Great Great Grandfather to a Neil McGroarty born in Kellogs, Co. Donegal in 1746.

I look forward to hearing from anyone on how best to use thses sites, and if possible to get any information on the above persons.

Thanking you in advance for your time.

Regards,
Siobhan McGroarty.

Looking for the parents/siblins of Cornelius Neil McGroarty born around 1802 in Invers, County Donegal. We think his parents were Neil McCroarty married to Nancy Montgomery daughter of Hugh Roe Montgomery (no clear proof, just some family letters). Do you see any connections? Cornelius Neil migrated to Cincinnati, Ohio. He was married to Catherine Bonner.

My gggrandfather's brother (Edward Murrin) married Katherine McGroarty. Katherine was born in 1806 in Killybegs, Co. Donegal. Katherine apparently lived in Missouri, USA, in the mid-1850's. I don't know where they were married.
Can you provide a linkage between your tree and Katherine?

Saw your message. I am related to John McGroarty
of Brooklyn, Ny who is originally from
Donegal. He had a son John C. McGroarty also
of Brookly who died in Sept. 1975. Perhaps we are related?

(most of the family before 1850. Neil Cornelius McGroarty migrated to the Cincinnati, Ohio area in the 1830s.
I can't see a connection at present. You might try the Donegal mailing list on

Hello Siobhan: Looking for our family and ran across Jane McGroarty message. She has info on your Neil McGroarty b. 1746. Your Neil married Peggy Meighan (our family name. They were from Townland Kealogs, Parish Inver, County Donegal. (Not sure of correct spelling for Kealogs). Anyway your great grandfather Daniel would be their son. If you find any Meighans in Australia related through this Donegal line please let us know. My great great grandparents have Arthur and Mary Meighan and also John and Mary McGinty. Regards from the U.S. Mary Meighan Stanfield mbsbkp@aol.com

I am not a member of the McGroarty family but am trying to trace a long lost friend from South Africa - Raymond McGroarty, whose father I believe is named George and either of them could be living in Scotland, Ireland or even Australia. Can you help at all?.
Thanks
