I would be interested in the McNeish's you have. Mine are Bernard McNeish b 1858 in Dalry Scotland and came to Clearfield Cty PA in the early 1880's. There was a large extended family of brothers, half brothers and cousins who all immigrated. Some of the names are Francis, Peter, John,Alexander. There was a James born in PA in 1890 son of Francis McNeish. Another born in Lanarkshire in 1879 son of Peter and Maryanne. If you want to email me directly I can give you additional information if any of these are yours. fitzi1@msn.com

Merle, sounds like we could be in the same family...both John and Frances were names that were commonly used. Butler is about 2hours west of Osceola Mills where my grgrgrandfather settled with others and then they all dispersed to other areas. Every family seemed to have a John McNeish in it. Do you know where he was born? My McNeish's came over from Dalry Scotland from the late 1870's thru the early 1880's, menfolk coming first. They worked in the coal mines there for a while. My grrgrandfather was Bernard McNeish, married to Margaret McGowan 1888 in Clearfield Cty,PA.Their children were Mary,Christine,Margaret and Bernard. There were many halfbrothers and cousins, Peter, Henry, John, Patrick amongst them...I have extensive information on this entire family so if you feel there is any connection, email me directly and I will try to share with you what I know. fitzi1@msn.com

Eric Helms - Was your grandfather, James McNeish, a son of John McNish Elizabeth Inglis? If so, I believe that he is the brother of my great-grandfather.
