Welcome to the Paulsell Family message board. My name is Gwen Goff Hobbs and I am the administrator of this board. This is my first time to administrate the board but I look forward to learning about my far-flung Paulsell cousins.
Please feel free to post queries, obituaries and other materials pertinent to our family research and remember that we are all adults and should know how to conduct ourselves in a manner that would be bring honor to our pioneer forefathers.
David Paulsell is the patriarch of the family and he settled in Greene Co., NC (later to become Greene Co., TN) after he presumably served served in the Revolutionary War in Pennsylvania. In 1798, he married Elizabeth Delaney, daughter of John D. and Agnes Delaney. He and Elizabeth were the parents of 8 children: Newton (ca 1799 - 4 Apr Los Angeles Co, CA), John (abt 1800 - abt 1838 IL), Elizabeth (1 Dec 1801 - 15 Apr 1875 Greene Co, TN), Margaret (abt 1803 - 1868 Greene Co, TN), Betsy Ann (abt 1804), Henry P Paulsell (27 Mar 1811 - 17 May 1875 Greene Co, TN), Martha (20 Mar 1813 - ), and Nathan (20 Apr 1815 - 15 Jan 1863 Phelps Co, MO).
A large contingent of Paulsells, Brittains, Delaneys and others from Greene Co., TN left there and moved to Missouri. Some of them settled in Greene Co, MO. Others in Cole Co, MO and the majority in Phelps Co., MO. John Paulsell, who was a Methodist Episcopal Minister who died while enroute to Missouri. In later generations, some of the Paulsells moved to California and became prominent residents of Stanislaus County and San Joaquin County. Another branch of the family settled near the Petrified Forest in Arizona. Others in the family were pioneers in Colorado and the Indian Territory in Oklahoma. Almost all of them, no matter what else they did, were farmers who seemed to love the land.
My lines is David Paulsell > John Paulsell > Oliver Patton "O.P." Paulsell > Armenius Calvin "Cal" Paulsell > Rosa Maud Paulsell > Willard Dennis Goff (my grandfather).
I have outlined as much about the Paulsell family in my database on Rootsweb WorldConnect <a href="http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?o... and Hobbs and Everything in Between</a> and on my other web page <a href="http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~guinevere60/index.h... and Hobbs Connections</a>.
I hope these pages will be a help to those of you with Paulsell roots and maybe we can find new cousins in the process.
Have fun and happy hunting ~
Gwen Goff Hobbs

Seems to me I visited a Paulsell board in the past (or maybe my memory is failing me). What happened to the old board?

I checked your sites and did not find the individual I've been searching for. I'm a Bryant descendant. On the tree is a Frederick Bryant b. Dec. 7, 1861, maybe in Lawrence Co., IN, and maybe in Minnesota. He was the son of Robert Robertson Bryant and Catherine Eversole.

Fred married a Josephine Paulsell. Frederick and Josephine, referred to by some of Fred's family as "Aunt Josie". I believe they died in the Los Angeles, California, area. Several of Robert's children moved there.

I have no other information on Fred or Josephine or their family. I've not been able to find anything on her online.

Andrea,
It's good to hear from you again! I contacted you last about Josephine because I was trying to determine how she fit into the Paulsell family. I just recently found the connection and I haven't reloaded my trees online.
Josephine "Josie" Paulsell is the daughter of Newton Paulsell and Louise Parlee Buster and she was born 29 Dec 1864 in Greene Co, MO and died 12 Mar 1961 in Downey, Los Angeles, CA and was buried in the Downey Cemetery, Downey, Los Angeles, CA. Fred wasn't listed in the cemetery.

I thank you so much for the information that you gave me last year as it lead me to finding her birth and death dates in the Downey Cemetery. It just goes to show you that just because you don't get information right away, doesn't mean that it won't pay off in the end. I will be getting my information reloaded soon.
I will post in another message what I have found so far on Newton Paulsell and Louise Parlee Buster since I don't have it online. You should be able to copy and paste it for your own use.

Thank for for the names of Josephine's parents, and her date of birth and death. I thought she had died in 1967, but was basing it on a letter I thought was written to a family member in 1967 that said she had died "a few weeks ago".

I'll look forward to the additional information.

My name is William Paulsell. My father was Harry C. Paulsell and his father was Harry E. Paulsell. Both lived in MO for quite awhile. Both the Rolla area and the Cabool MO area. My father moved up to Mackinaw, IL and worked and retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co in E. Peoria, IL. He had four sons and two daughters. My oldest sister Vicky is married to Henry Hofmann and lives in Pekin, IL. Then there was me, another sister, Carolyn, who is married to Carl McDonald and lives in Belleville, IL. There was then a set of twins, Richard and Robert, both living in the central IL area. There was then a younger brother Edward, who died in a car accident back in 1990 while most of us were living in MO. I don't have much information on my family. We didn't think there were many of us around, but I was just messing around on google and decided to type in my last name and ran across this website. I would like to hear from you and how you tie into the Paulsell family. I'm still quite shocked that there appears to be so many of us.

I am delighted that you found the Paulsell family message board, William! We both descend from Oliver Patton Paulsell with you descending through his son Oliver Dabney Paulsell and I descend through one of his other sons, Armenuis Calvin "Cal" Paulsell and his daughter, Rosa Maud Paulsell who was married to Dennis Mitchell Goff. If you would e-mail me privately, I would like to get your brother Edward's birthdate. I have his death date but had to approximate when he was born. I really look forward to hearing from you.

Wow...I am very impressed by all of this information. I see these messages were posted several years ago, so I don't know if any one will get this. I was a Paulsell until I married in 2005. I have often wondered about my family history. How did you start your journey to finding people on your family tree? Did you just ask other family members?
Thanks for the starter help!
Nikki
