Welcome to the Paulsell Family message board. My name is Gwen Goff Hobbs and I am the administrator of this board. This is my first time to administrate the board but I look forward to learning about my far-flung Paulsell cousins.
Please feel free to post queries, obituaries and other materials pertinent to our family research and remember that we are all adults and should know how to conduct ourselves in a manner that would be bring honor to our pioneer forefathers.
David Paulsell is the patriarch of the family and he settled in Greene Co., NC (later to become Greene Co., TN) after he presumably served served in the Revolutionary War in Pennsylvania. In 1798, he married Elizabeth Delaney, daughter of John D. and Agnes Delaney. He and Elizabeth were the parents of 8 children: Newton (ca 1799 - 4 Apr Los Angeles Co, CA), John (abt 1800 - abt 1838 IL), Elizabeth (1 Dec 1801 - 15 Apr 1875 Greene Co, TN), Margaret (abt 1803 - 1868 Greene Co, TN), Betsy Ann (abt 1804), Henry P Paulsell (27 Mar 1811 - 17 May 1875 Greene Co, TN), Martha (20 Mar 1813 - ), and Nathan (20 Apr 1815 - 15 Jan 1863 Phelps Co, MO).
A large contingent of Paulsells, Brittains, Delaneys and others from Greene Co., TN left there and moved to Missouri. Some of them settled in Greene Co, MO. Others in Cole Co, MO and the majority in Phelps Co., MO. John Paulsell, who was a Methodist Episcopal Minister who died while enroute to Missouri. In later generations, some of the Paulsells moved to California and became prominent residents of Stanislaus County and San Joaquin County. Another branch of the family settled near the Petrified Forest in Arizona. Others in the family were pioneers in Colorado and the Indian Territory in Oklahoma. Almost all of them, no matter what else they did, were farmers who seemed to love the land.
My lines is David Paulsell > John Paulsell > Oliver Patton "O.P." Paulsell > Armenius Calvin "Cal" Paulsell > Rosa Maud Paulsell > Willard Dennis Goff (my grandfather).
I have outlined as much about the Paulsell family in my database on Rootsweb WorldConnect <a href="http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?o...
and Hobbs and Everything in Between</a> and on my other web page <a href="http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~guinevere60/index.h...
and Hobbs Connections</a>.
I hope these pages will be a help to those of you with Paulsell roots and maybe we can find new cousins in the process.
Have fun and happy hunting ~
