Dear friend,
My family lives in and around Atlanta, Georgia. We have lived here for many years since from before my grandfather's time. His name was Homer Frank Pylant,Sr, my father's name is Homer Frank Pylant,Jr. We have family on my mother's side living in northern Alabama. They are the Downs branch and the Jackson branch. Needless to say, I have been going to Alabama all my life. Related families to the Downs and Jackson families are Legg and Coffman families of Limestone County, Athens, Alabama. The Downs family originates from Toney and surrounding areas. We found out some history of the Pylant name. We found out that our family originated in Ireland with German heritage also. The Pylant name itself means scribe. At some point in our history our ancestors were record keepers or something similiar. My sister talked to someone from Ireland whose surname was Pylantz and they have two distinct family names that we in our family have. That is Homer and Lawson. My uncle's name was John Lawson Pylant, and the gentleman my sister talked to was John Pylantz and he had an uncle with the name of Lawson. I thought that really interesting. Do you have anyone in your family with these names? If so, we are probably related in some way because my grandmother said they were family names. Her name was Laverne Esther Clark Pylant. Please email me at Snowdohn1229@aol.com or my sister at Anjinique@aol.com, I would love to hear from you. Take care, good luck on your search and I hope I helped you a little bit. Kerry Pylant.

Born in Huntsville, AL 1939; Father William Frank Pylant, born 1902 in Alabama. He had two brothers, Joe and Leslie, and one sister, Sallie, all deceased. I have three sisters, one brother (all living in Alabama); one daughter, two grandaughters living in Texas. I now reside in West Virginia. I would be interested in viewing your research and sharing information.

Ted,

I am wondering if we are related. My Grandfather was Ernest C. Pylant of Houston, TX., now deceased. My Father was Robert S. Pylant, now deceased, and I have an Uncle Wyman Pylant who still lives in Texas. If so, would you please contact me at rpylant@evansvillepolice.com. This is my work e-mail. I view this more than I do my home e-mail address.
Thank You.
