Looking for information about William Quane, b. abt 1834/35 in Ireland, came to USA in 1851 on board ship ARTIC. Looking for ancestors. Believe this Wm. Quane settled in SF. CA and married a Mary Gilday. Any information would be helpful. Glad to help anyone else as I have Wm's descendents.

Sorry I don't have any information on your Quane, but I have been researching a Quane family that came in through Canada to the US before 1849 -- the names were John Quane m. Honora Duggan sons Jeremiah and John and daughter Johanna. I have a family legend that they came from Maryborough, Queen County, Ireland that doesn't seem to exist, so I'm interested in any Quane origin information in Ireland. If you have any more information about where in Ireland your Quane originated -- I would be very interested.

Wow! I think your ggg grandfather John went to Minnesota from LaSalle/Peru, Ill with his brother Jeremiah in the 1850s? Before Minnesota became a state. I think I have a letter from one of your cousins saying that John ran a hotel in St. Peter Minnesota??? I have tons on Jeremiah, of course. Johanne married William Smith and they had two children, Mary E. who died Nov. 26, 1916 and Paul J. I show Honoria died in Quebec Canada (the Province? the city??) and both John and Honoria from Marysborough Queens Cty Ireland -- that's it. I'd love to exchange information

Johanne Quane - where are you?

Honoria Duggan Quane m. John Quane in of Marysborough, Queens County, Ireland, died in Quebec, Canada and her sons (John and James) and (Johanne) daughter immigrated to the Illinois and then to Minnesota. Does any of this geography fit with your Honora?
