I am interested in my family names background. I live in Standish, in the North - West of England, U.K, only 15 minutes from the town of "RAINFORD", and near Liverpool, where I believe many Rainfords emegrated to America. Is there anyone else interested in the Rainford past? 0, by the way I'm 16 years old.

My paternal grandfather is Clovis Rainford who I believe was born in Jamaica, WI in the late 1800s or early 1900s. My father was Douglas Rainford born in Jamaica in 1929. My father died in 1998. I am trying to research my family history also. Some of the Rainfords went to America and some to the Caribbean.

My Great Grandfather was Enos Rainford, who died in 1971. He and his wife Louisa came to New Jersey from Jamaica. Several of their children are still living in NJ and Florida today.

Hi Yolanda,

Sounds like there may be a connection. My father was Douglas Rainford from Stony Hill, St. Andrew. His father was Clovis Rainford. Please contact me directly at cbrush@islands.vi. By the way, I was traveling for the last several weeks and only got back a few days ago -- hence the long delay in responding to you. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello Jan,

My family is also from Jamaica. My father was Douglas Rainford from Stony Hill. He dies a couple of years back -- which in part prompted me to try to learn as much about my ancestors as possible. I hope we can stay in touch. Please contact me directly at cbrush@islands.vi. Take care.
