My grandfather was Edward Rella born in Bari, Italy and came here to join his brother Stephan in 1922. They lived in Orange Nj, my grandfather died in 1967, but he always told me if I ever met anyone, who spelled the name the same way and came from Bari we were probably related because in was not a common name.
Thank you
Debbie Rella

Hi I was hoping you might have some information on a Maria Rella that was born before 1850 in Bari Italy. She was married to Domenico Rutigliano. Any information you might have would be great. Thank you.

My grandfather's name was Thomas Rello. He came across to the US in the very early part of the 20th century. He lived in NYC, mostly in Queens. He was born in a small town in Bari, Italy. Grumo Appula. My grandmother's name was Crescenza Jacobelas or Tricarico, I'm not sure which (I'm sure the spelling is wrong), also from the province of Bari. They had four children, in order: Anne, Rose, Dominick and Paul. Dominick is now deceased. I'm am Anne Rello Walsh's third son.

Nothing sounds familiar to me. My mother-in-law and father-in-law came to the USA by ship to Ellis Island in 1920. Their names were Matteo Rella (it was somehow changed when they landed here to Rello) and Maria Fratepietro. They were both born Bari, Provincia di Andria in 1893 and 1897. If I find out anything I will contact you and if you can find out anything about any of my surnames please let me know also.

Thank you,

Norma Rello

Thanks for your response. My Grandfather and grandmother both landed at Ellis Island also. It was sometime in the 19 teens or early 20's.

I have a very early memory of traveling to Boston and then Toronto to visit Italian relatives on my mother's side. I'm sure there is a connection somewhere.
