I am desirous to find a complete family record of Ephriam Swavely (married to Maria Zimmerman of Earl Township, Berks Co., PA)and any information that can lead back to Hans Adam Schwebel from Hessen Germany. Hans Adam Schwebel came to America to help the British fight in the Revolutionary War. He arrived in America on October 26, 1754, on the ship Brigantine Mary Sarah from Amsterdam by way of Portsmouth. The ship information was found in Strassburger Hinke "Pennsylvania German Pioneers", Vol. 1, p. 661, List 230 (a), person #13.

I am a first time FamilyHistory.com user and found your post while searching for sirname Swavely - I have an entire Summary of the male succession of Swavely that begins with John Adam Schnebel b. Germany abt 1736 arrived Phila Oct 26 1754 on Mary Sarah from Earl Twp. I am absolutly stunned that I found your post on my first try! I have an Ephriam 1825-1884 shows however married Mary (Hilbert?) with 4 sons. Entire linage is from Earl Twp, Oley, Upper Berks and surrounding PA area. This Summary was started almost 30 years ago by my grandmother (swoyer/swavely) Amityville PA and my mothers former boyfriend. I have had it the entire time with no idea what to do with it. I am now trying to put together a family tree and would be more than happy to correspond with you to share this information. I'm a neophyte at this entire geneology sub-culture and only just started my search at the insistance of a friend. I hope I can help you in anyway possible. Please feel free to contact me via email. Looking forward to your comments, maybe you have some advice on how I can get started with the information I have. Thanks again.

Sorry it took so long to get back to your message. I've changed internet companies and have a new computer to keep up with the fast pace. I thought that Ephriam was married to a Hilbert woman but was not sure.

Anyway, I'm back up and running and be glad to share anything with you that will help you in your research.

Swavely family tree

Thanks for the list of names. This does not look like names that I am familiar with in our family but I am just starting to look backwards. We have a Charles Swavely that was married to an Isabella Wiggins . Their son was Edwin Charles Swavely who was my grandfather. They lived in Lancaster, Pa. I do not see any connection to your tree but there are a lot of missing pieces. I am very interested with the German name changing into Swavely. I always thought it was a French surname!!! I am new at this so I hope that you receive this. Thanks for the work setting up this web message.

I have read your message about a long list of Swavely's in Pa. My grandfather was born in Pottstown and am trying to run down his family. I would like to find out what his fathers name is. My grandfather was born Mahlon D. Swavely in 2863 and ran away from home when he was 14 and never returned, he would not talk about his family to anyone. All info would be appreciated very much. Thanks Ron
