Laura,
My g-g-grandfather is Michael Rhoads b.1804.
he married Elizabeth Wilt. b.1809. I recently found out that his father was George Rote b.1764 in Germany. His Grandfather was George Michael Rote b.1730 in Germany. Married to Elizabeth (unknown)
Does any of this add up to what you have??? It seems that this line (Michael) changed the spelling at his generation. I am willing to share all that I have.

Benny

I have a genealogical chart compiled by Alvin Rote in January 1 1913. It starts with a George Rote who lived in Buffalo Valley near Mifflinburg Pa.This chart shows he died in 1797. It shows he had a brother Michael nothing known about him. IN the third generation it shows a George born 1803 and his brother Michael born 1804. the also had several brothers and sisters. One of their brothers was Henry Rote born 1795 died 1853. Henry was my G.G.G.Grandfather.Iam trying to find out where he is buried. As far as Iknow he lived in the Pottsville/Schuylkill area. Any information would be greatly apperaciated. Iwill share any information I have.Richard Rote

Benny: This certianly adds up with what I have. I show a George Rote living in the Mifflinburg Pa.area.He had the following children Peter, Jacob, George, Roda, Abraham,Lydia, Elizabeth, Ester, Mary, and a daughter I am not sure of the name.I also show Michael Born in 1804. It says bachelor behind his name.Alvin Rote who researched this in 1912. probably did noy know he changed his name. I also have information that when George lived in Germany he spelled his name Rhoades.I have been up dating my chart as no one has done it since 1913.
