My family hails from the Youngstown Ohio area. My research has found that our family surname comes essentially from Germany; Reubenstein, "from Ruby mountain". The name changed as the family moved from Germany to Poland and acquired the "cky" ending which is the same as the polish "ski" except that "cky" in polish denotes nobility. Then the Slovakian influence helped shape the rest. I know little except my family came over around the turn of the century. My grandfather's name was Andrew. Maybe a connection?

Hi JoAnne! I see this message is pretty old. i am from Hazleton, PA and my dad's family came from Zborov, Slovakia. There is a Suzanna Rubaczky from Zborov who married Joseph Stanek. I assume they died there, but their daughter, Anna Stanek was my great-grandmather and she came to McAdoo, PA and is buried there. Are you still doing this research? Might be some connection.

Audrey, I'm still looking for information on the Rubaczky, Rubacky and Rubasky family members. My Great Grandfather Joseph Rubacky had two brothers that use to live in the McAdoo and Hazleton area. There names were John Rubacky and he was married to a Anna(Hobnaru) and Charels Rubacky was married to Suzanne(Dvorshak. So any information would be welcomed. We might be related in some way. I would happy to share with you what I have on this family.
