I have done research on the Slineys of Dungarvan, Co. Waterford Ireland. I have baptism, marriage and death records from St. Mary's RC church in Dungarvan. Anyone researching the same Sliney line, please contact me.

Ellen Sliney, born about 1845 in Ireland (Cork, Kilarney, Waterford???), married William Quinn about 1868 (in Quebec, Vermont, Wisconsin???) and lived all the rest of her life in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Had 7 children; two at least married and had children.

Her father's name might be John Sliney (also various spellings, e.g. Sleighney).

There are also Slineys in Maine and Minnesota (Stillwater - 2 farmers).

Any connections to these peoples would be greatly appreciated.

--------- Joe

I need the immigration info on a William Sliney. He married Julia Gainey, and they settled in Peperill Massachusetts. Julia's family was from Cork, and they all immigrated together. She was an indentured servant. If any of this sounds like yours, please contact me.

My husband's great-grandfather came from County Cork somewhere around the turn of the (20th) century. His name was Bernard Leo Sliney. They believe it might have been spelled Slaney because of the Slaney River being near where he was from. He settled in New Hampshire (I think), but it might have been Vermont. I can find out more from my mother-in-law if any of this sounds similar to you.
