I am doing a lot of work on the Spenner family. I know that William Spenner born 12 Feb 1824 in Preusen, Gremany, died on 12 Feb 1914, at North Judson Indiana.

The trail of tears started in Indiana not far from North Judson, IN about 80 miles.

Can this Henry Spenner be from William Spenner's family?

I know these facts:
William come to America in 1884 from West Prensen, Germany
He married Eva Hoppe about 1852 in Germany
He lived in Il then moved to IN
He had these childern; John, August, Gustave, Gottleib, Rose, unknown daughter,

If you know that this Henry Spenner was from the same family, we can help each other.

The information I have on Henry Spenner, shows him as a member of Solomon Gibson's family. Family tradition has that he was adopted into this family because his own was gone (killed?) The name he went by later was Henry M. Spenner-White Gibson. No one else in the family had a hyphenated name. I'm very curious about the possible connection. I show him born in South Carolina, in 1837. He married Eliza Adeline Reece 29 March 1859 in Haywood, Buncombe, NC. He died 12 Jul 1916, Sols Creek, NC. He and his wife had 8 children. Does any of this connect with what you have?

Here is a cut and past of William Spenner's obituary:

Death of William Spenner

William Spenner, an old and well known resident and citizen of this vicinity, passed over the Great Divide last Sunday night about 10 o'clock, his death being attributed to old age. he was born Feb 12, 1824, at West Preusen, Germany, and was just 3 days past 90 years of age at the time of his passing. He came to America in 1884 and here lived a useful life. Deceased is survived by a widow and six children: Gustave, August, John, Mrs. Godlieb Hankey, Mrs. Henry Krueger and Mrs. Julius Selmer. three children precede him in death. He is also survived by 36 grand and 11 great-grand children.

LATER- Mrs. William Spenner, the death of whose husband is recorded above, followed him to the Great Beyond, passing out of this life Thuesday at 8:15 p.m. at the age of 86 years and 22 days. Deceased was born in Germany Jan. 25, 1828 She had been married to her departed husband for over 62 years. The funeral of Wm. Spenner, which was to have been held Wednesday afternoon, has now been postponed until Friday afternoon, when a double funneral will be conducted. Services at 11:30 at the late residence and from te Lutheran church at 1 p.m. in charge of Rev. Heine.-North Judson News19 Feb 1914

I know that the Spenner family likes to name uncles, grandfathers, great uncles after each other. I have a Henry Spenner that would be William's grandchild. I don't know if there is a connection or not, maybe they are cousins due to the fact that William was born on 12 Feb 1824 in Germany. I am trying to find family history of William Spenner in West Prensen, Germany. His father, mother, brothers, sisters. I will let you know if I find a connection. This might be a clue for you tooo.
