Hi,
Is anyone researching the Stableford families who seem to have originated from Leicestershire?
My husband is a descendant of Thomas Stableford, born anout 1809 at Cold Newton, Leics and Harriet Read. Their 3rd son Edwin William was his G,G Grandfather.
I have information to share.
Regards,
Catherine

I am inquiring about Sussex, New Brunswick, Stableford Tree. Specifically Mary Ann, daughter to Thomas, who married George H. Wallace in 1852. Thank you.

For years I have been chasing the wrong Edwin Stableford. The correct one was the illegitimate son of a Mary Stableford born 31 Jul 1840, at St Margarets, Leicester. Is there anyone who is researching this same line?
Regards,
Catherine

I'm researching a Charles Stableford born around 1800, not in Lancashire. He was the son of Michael and Elizabeth Stableford. He married a Mary Fox from Derbyshire and they lived in Manchester, Lancashire. Charles was a milk seller/grocer.

If anyone knows anything, or has any ideas where Charles might have come from I'd love to hear from you.

My late wife was a Stableford and she spent many years researching the family. Sadly she never committed any of this to computer data, so there are now masses of note books, printed papers, etc. holding a wealth of information about the family. In all it must weight around 20 kilos and I have no way to send this to anyone, but i am willing to give it to any interested person. Sorry, but I do not have the time to search this material for specifics.

Wow, what a lot of information! Do you know what area of the country her research was based in, as there seems to be a couple of Stableford branches spread around.

Her research spanned many areas, especially around Leicestershire.

But the depositing of this information has now been solved because one of the important Genealogical societies The Guild of One Name Studies are going to add it to their library. It will eventually be digitised and in this way be available to other researchers. This is cleartly the best option for so much material.
