I am looking for information for family history on Frank Joseph Stanski. His name was changed from Stanislawski to Stanski when he arrived from Poland in 1913. He lived in Neepawa Manitoba but was born on Dec.1 1887 in Kaczonov Poland. Any info would help. Thanks

Hello Chris. My grandfather, Louis Stanislawski, immigrated to the U.S. around 1913 from Poland. His mother's name was Rose, father's name was John. My grandfather and his mother are both buried in W.F., IL. I believe my grandfather's father, John, never immigrated here and must have been buried somewhere in Poland. My grandfather and family lived in West Frankfort, Il area. I know this probably doesn't help you at all, but we do share a common surname. If you have any information that you would like to share, please contact me. Laura

Hello Laura, I also am a Stanislawski. I live in Wisconsin. I have 3 brothers and 3 sisters. My father Gerald has 6 brothers and 6 sisters. Who knows, maybe we are related some how. My fathers fathers name was Zigmund and his mothers name was Monica. Ring a bell? Let me know if somehow we could be related.
Hope to hear from you,
Dion Stanislawski

Dear Dion,
To my knowlege I have no relation in WI, but you never know. The names you mention do not sound familiar to me, but then again I haven't been able to trace my family that far yet. My grandfather, Louis, had a brother named Felix who is also buried in West Frankfort, Illinois. He also had a brother named Paul who lived in the Chicago, IL area. My grandfather's parents were Rose and I believe Jon Stanislawski. Rose is buried in WF, Illinois and Jon I believe to have been buried in Poland. My mother's maiden name is Mary Stanislawski, she lives in WF, IL. She has a sister named Phyllis who lives in Missouri. She had a brother named Edward and a brother named Louis (Jr.) My Uncle Eddie is buried in WF, IL and so is my Uncle Louie. Uncle Louie resided in the Chicago area when living. I'm sorry I can't make a connection between our families yet. I have so little to go on. I haven't found any papers on my grandfather. We're not even real sure on his date of birth, and don't know where at in Poland he was born. All this makes it difficult to search.
Where at in Poland did your ancestors come from?
Good Luck in your search, and feel free to e-mail me anytime.
Laura

Laura,
Thanks for getting back to be so quickly. I know exactly what you mean. I have also just started tracing my family, well actually I've been doing it off and on for about a year now. My sister is also working on it. I gave her alot of my own information to get her started. Well, I'll keep looking into it, and if I find anything I will be sure to let you know. Thanks again,
Dion

My grandmother was a Stanislawski - her father & mother arrived in the U.S. about 1870. They settled in the Pine Creek, Wis./Winona, Mn. area with other Stanislawski families. She moved (with mother & father) to near the Minnesota/Manitoba border in 1895, homesteading in Roseau County, Minnesota. There are still many Stanislawski in Winona Co. and Roseau Co. today. We have no idea where this family came from in Poland.

Surnames: Stanislawski & Kukowski
Thanks for the info, Bruce. If John Stanislawski is related to my Joseph it gives me a location in Poland (Ugonez).
What we have been able to gather of those early Stanislawski's is:
1) Tomas STANISLAWSKI (born ?) Married Elizabeth Cyezon.
2) Joseph STANISLAWSKI (b.mar.1831 or 1825 - d.1902), Prussia. Married Augustyna Mesik/Mazik (b.feb.1842 or 1846, Prussia) in 1870, Germany. Family emigrated to Winona 1870-71.
3) Elizbieta (Elizabeth) Rose STANISLAWSKI (b.1880, Winona - d.1965, Greenbush, Roseau Co., Mn.). Married Peter Paul Kukowski in 1898 in Roseau Co.
[her oldest brother, Frank Martin STANISLAWSKI, remained in the Winona area (Pine Creek, Wis.). He was born in Prussia in 1865 and married Mary Kiedrowski in 1888].
