I am looking for information on Antone Stelzig he was born about 1824 and came to America from Austria. He died in Fayetteville, Fayette, Texas on 2/5/1895.

His wife was Theresa Link she was born about 1827 in Austria. She also died in Fayetteville, Fayette, Texas.

The Stelzig family started the famous Stelzig Saddlery in the Houston, Texas area.

If you have any information on the parents of Antone Stelzig and his wife Theresa Link, I would appreciate any information.

Linda

I'm not sure, I don't have alot of information on the Stelzigs. What was her first name? I don't have the husband listed, but maybe if I had her first name I might be able to match her with the family.

Do you know if you are related to Stelzig Saddlery?

Several years ago I started investigating the roots of my family. The male ancestors of one of my greatgrandmother's side were called Stelzig and lived in the village Naschowitz (Nackovice) near Auscha (Ustek) and Leitmeritz (Litomerice) in former Northern Bohemia (part of the Austrian-Hungarian empire) that now forms part of the Czech Republic. The Stelzig family had been living there since at least the 1700s. I wonder if any of you can trace back their Stelzig roots to the same region in Bohemia.

kind regards,
Toni

Did any of your Stelzigs live in Texas. Mine lived in the Houston area and Fayetteville?

No, not that I know of. All Stelzigs that I am researching came from the village of Naschowitz and later (after 1945) moved into Germany. However, I do not know what happened to many of those that were no direct ancestors of mine. So I am looking for people who might research the same family tree but coming down different branches that split away maybe in the 1700s to early 1800s. Unfortunately, Stelzig is a common name and only a connection to this village/area (Naschowitz/Auscha) might indicate a shared root.

best wishes,
Toni
